The Suspensions Thread...

If it was prescribed, fine...otherwise using amphetamines should not be allowed.

Not sure if you have ever used amphetamines, but it's not like steroids in that it gets you pumped to work out. It just speeds up your heart and make you jittery. It wouldn't increase a workout as much as increase the chances of a heart exploding while working out. There is no workout benefit to it at all.

Yes there is a benefit to it...also, could cause a stroke. If you are not prescribed them you should not be able to use them.

I don't agree that there is a benefit to it. Unless you want to argue the health thing, but in that case, I would argue that the health thing is none of the league's business. Regardless, I don't see any performance benefit at all.

It delays exhaustion during a workout, which is a benefit. Pretty clear.

It's now apparent that you have never done amphetamines. It's a rawr now drug, not an extensive workout drug. Anyone that tried to use it as a workout drug like steroids would be stupid.

I have...and I know that my workouts were better because of it. There are certain supplements we can't use because of it. Anyone who has used them at all know that they give you a better workout than not using them. To argue otherwise is dishonest.

Amphetamines really don’t decrease fatigue on endurance tasks— they just mask it. This goes for most stimulants, although there may be an increase in fat mobilization for energy. Through stimulating the mind and euphoric centers of the brain, the exertion that you perceive is less intense and you feel less of the discomfort related to the fatigue.1 With that effect, you can go longer on endurance tasks. Further, the effect on the mind is one of increased focus, concentration and reaction times. Anaerobic activities like strength training are also enhanced by amphetamine use. This may be due to an increase in sensitivity of the muscle contractile tissues to calcium release, but the exact mechanism of increased strength is probably multifactorial. - See more at: http://www.advancedmolecularlabs.co...like-supplements-for-fat-loss-and-performance.

Short-term boost for workouts. Long-term (more than a couple of workouts) it's debilitating. No advantage at all.

Wait. I thought it was not a performance enhancer? Now it gives a boost during workouts...noted.

Short-term boost, yeah. Performance enhancing long-term boost, no. Not even close.

Short term boost for each of your workouts. It is a performance enhancer. It is not arguable.

Okay, Smitty.

Aren't we all if you drop it to semantics?

You are wrong, but you are in one of your argue for the sake of arguing moods. It is a performance enhancer, no doubt at all. Dumb to say otherwise.

It's dumb to say it is. Apparently, we are at a stale mate.

Nothing you have posted...other than you own opinion...has made a point in your favor. You are simply wrong.

And nothing you have posted, outside of your own opinion, has shown it's performance enhancing.

Besides that bit from an article that tells you how they alter your brain and allow you to ignore fatigue...giving you a performance enhancement. There is some other stuff if you want me to post it so you look like a bigger idiot.

I agree, but even if its prescribed it needs to be regulated. Otherwise, you'll see crazy mf'ers smoking meth before a game and end up killing somebody on the field.

Adults can have ADHD and you would think someone who truly has it would have a hard time in the NFL between film sessions and studying the playbook.

But it's also vastly over diagnosed and most people who have it don't really have it.

Say what now????
