With it being that old even the pound would probably put it down. I doubt they would be able to adopt it out. But, there are dog rescues everywhere now. Or, how about this, take care of the animal you committed to taking care of. Novel, I know.

Or you can not be a complete shitbag and keep him. He's been with you for all his life. Part of the family.

If he no longer has quality of life and/or is in pain, take him to the vet and have him euthanized. Staying with him the whole way.

I fucking despise people that get rid of a pet when it becomes inconvenient. If that is your end game, don't get a pet.

Same here, man. Living out here in the country we get dogs that have been dumped by assholes all the time. I have taken 4 to a local rescue now. Fucking pisses me off. My wife wants to keep them all, but I'm not going to do that. The rescue won't put them down. They commit to keeping them until they find them a home.
