The Outrage Thread

I'm willing to bet there's not a father in the house and he's used to getting his way. What a fucking nightmare. I can't imagine raising someone who would beat the shit out of me for not giving him another twinkie.
It used to be a kid here and there who would tantrum, but a quick clout on the ear, shoe or something would deliver the message. The lack of capital punishment and fear of DSS makes this happen in a lot of single mom homes, but somewhere we lost our way as a society. There is a difference between abuse and physical punishment.

Sadly in todays world if you leave a mark on the child at all you're going to have some finding of child abuse if it gets reported and likely criminal charges coming. I've seen it too often. And frankly kids aren't afraid to do it to their parents either if they aren't happy about something.

I don't know that DSS used to be this way when we are children but their authority has grown out of control.

Totally agree. I only deployed it on a few occasions with my son, but I stand by it as a necessity. Child Protective Services in Texas is a complete mess. It needs to be reimagined from the top down. You don't even need to have a degree to get a job with them. I have to deal with them several times a week, and I will say, there are some good ones who genuinely care about reuniting families, but they have a lot of dumb, unorganized, incompetent people working for them, too, that place unrealistic objectives on parents.

My dad would be in prison right now if I had been raised in today's culture. Needless to say, spare the rod was not in his nature.

Same here. And I can't think of a time that I didn't deserve it. It may come as a shock, but I was a very unruly child.

Oh, I definitely deserved every single beating I ever got. Just as an example of what I put my parents through, I shot my brother in the eye with a bb gun... twice.

God damn. And you say I'm cold blooded.

Jeez…did you light fires too?
Nope. I never damaged anybody's property at all. Most of the shit we did (older brother and I) was just harmless stuff like riding our bikes through the courthouse running from the security guard.

He skips corporal and goes straight to capital, it's amazing any of his kids survived.
Luckily my kids had their quirks and their mom is definitely more of a spare the rod type, but they got an understanding of boundaries you just did not cross.

Did you jump the security guard’s method of transportation in a defiant act of rebellion?

I meant corporal. But maybe I don’t.

Do you think that fat fucking kid will amount to anything?
Depends on your perspective. Do I think he'll amount to anything worthwhile? No. Probably not.

Will he grow up to be a burden on society, and champion the causes of the people that cheer him on for being beautiful just the way he is? Then, yeah. I'm sure they will think highly of him.

His voice needed to be heard and let us all sing the praises of what kind of special sweet soul is at work here. He needs some Ozempic but it will all work itself out when the world goes full Wall-E.
