All hail the might keytar.
I used to have a cd by those guys, I can’t remember the name of it though. Probably from early 2000s
And I prefer Axl screeching like a lesbian banshee to Vince Neil lip syncing.
There's nothing less metal than being fake.
....
They've always been one of my favorite bands but it's heartbreaking watching them go out and give performances like this. DLR, GnR, Motley Crue, they're really damaging their legacies, IMHO. I wouldn't want to be remembered by any of these shows.
I don't think GNR or DLR will be remembered by these performances. I think it's sort of like how people remember great athletes. In their prime, when they were great. If they hang on too long, eh, people age and it's understandable that they're getting older and aren't quite the same anymore.
Motley Crue on the other hand, that's a conscious choice to be fake and Milli Vanilli your show.
That's how I look at it, anyway.
Don't get me wrong, if you've completely lost it you probably shouldn't be doing shows anymore, but if guys are hard up for cash or whatever I get it. 90% of the show is for the atmosphere anyway. As long as you're honest about who you are it's fine in my opinion.
I will say, if I was a famous musician and people were still paying me to come see me, I would tell naysayers like myself to FO and perform until I fell over dead. It's gotta be hard to walk away from it all. I can only imagine the rush you feel when you walk out on stage in front of thousands of people, and they're all going crazy.
