The Coronavirus Thread...

What’s the return policy?

If I’m Costco, Walmart or any of these stores, it could be an issue if these hoarders return their supply once this all passes over.

I would take an all sales are final approach if I were them.

The infections originated in Wuhan but that isn’t necessarily where the culture was created that caused the infections there. Additionally, it is very puzzling to me why the panic is so great with this virus since it doesn’t seem to be any more devasting than a lot of previous viruses. This country is as panic stricken as pre hurricane folks. I just don’t understand the reasons behind all the attention.
Really? Thousands upon thousands of people were first sick in once place, Wuhan. Again, the city where two virology labs exist, and where Xi has pushed hard for Chinese bioengineering superiority. But you think it came from someplace else and was planted there?

And you should know why there's such a panic. One, because it's new, not well known, and has no vaccine (yet), so there's some legit concern. And two, because a lot of people are pushing the worst case scenario to try to hurt Trump.

All of that could well be true but if I had pursued the get Trump conspiracy theory it would have raised the ire of some. I understand there is a lab there but my point is has that been established as the origin of the virus? The world virus community could establish and release that. To my knowledge no one has yet stated the virus was created there. If there has been then I missed it.

Didn’t AIDS/HIV spread start in America but the virus originated from some monkey in Africa or Asia?
Memory serves me that is correct to the extent of the origin being from monkey types. I’m not sure whether theUS was the first identified case but could be.

I’ll never get over how weird people are. If you have to put on a rubber suit and wear a gas mask to go shopping, you are one of the people who I hope gets the virus.

Instead of showing everyone you’re absolutely nuts, maybe just use a delivery service that damn near every store in America offers now.

According to Google the AID HIV was first detected in a human in the Congo in the 1940s. The outbreak in the US was in the 70s.

No, I'm not saying that has been established at all. The Chinese, of course, won't let scientists in to study the origins and would never admit to such a thing. It could have been naturally occurring, or it could have come from bats or rats or whatever. But it is suspicious that the last two novel and dangerous viruses that became a world wide threat originated there.

The part about getting Trump... well, that's not even a conspiracy theory. That's obvious for everyone to see.

Yesterday the Ticket had a long interview with a local infectious disease MD who has studied coronoviruses in particular. He said he went to the gym like normal that day. Said the only thing a mask is good for is keeping you from spreading it to other people if you're already infected (which I think most of us had heard). He was one of the calm, reassuring experts I mentioned earlier.

Sometimes I wonder where we're headed, though. Will people one day walk around in bubble wrap, helmets, and masks all the time because, you know, better safe than sorry one hundo?

The three people in my county who got it (an elderly couple who came back from Italy and a woman in her 50s) have already recovered. We can do this, people.

My friend's elderly, retired father lost $123K in the stock market last week. Sucks for those retired or near retirement.

Hopefully he’s got the means to make it back when this hysteria is over with.

Viruses mutate constantly

It started in Africa, but no one gave a shit about it until it got to less poor countries.
