The 70s & 80s Nostalgia Thread...

To cheat at video games. I never owned one but the video game cartridge would go into the game genie and you could get unlimited lives and things like that on video games.
So, that replaced AABBLEFTRIGHTLEFTRIGHTAAB, or however that went?

Essentially, except it allowed for cheats that were never intended. Basically because it could change code as it passed from the game to your system. I had a friend with one and thought it was the coolest thing ever. In hindsight it was really just cheating. Like MODs you see on computer games today.

I still eat this for a snack when I can get my hands on some vine-ripened tomatoes.

I didn't watch TV when I got home from school. I changed out of my school clothes and jumped on my bike the vast majority of the time.

I was doing chores as soon as I got home, (raking the leaves during the fall was bad, chopping and stacking firewood was the worst). I didn't watch TV until after dinner, usually earliest was 6:30.

We had a Wendy’s near school and that was where you went to sneak off campus for food.

We had a big empty lot with trails less than a block away from my house, that's where we were almost all the time.

I had sports until almost 5 every day, got home and had like an hour before supper, and that's about the only time I really watched TV. That's when my sister and I watched all the syndicated shows like SMDM, Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, etc. At night time the TV was dad's, and I had homework to do every day anyway.

I guess it would be the Challenger explosion. I don't really remember a major news event before that.
