I've been progressing towards doing only bankruptcy in each successive career stop so far. The firm I'm leaving does about 50% bankruptcy, 30% criminal, and 20% SSD and other.

The firm I'm joining is about 95% bankruptcy and the biggest consumer bankruptcy firm in NC, so I'm hoping it becomes a reality because I hate doing that other crap.

Pennsylvania has reciprocity with North Carolina so I just have to apply and pay the exhorbitant $2000 application fee and in 6 months or so they'll just admit me. Now I just have to find how to get a copy of my MPRE results.

Thanks. I've discovered I want little to do with most other areas of law. Bankruptcy or maybe some other transactional areas like real estate, which I never learned because I came out in a real estate bust market and because PA doesn't require attorneys at closings.

But litigation I just have no stomach for. Ironic?

I'd do something else entirely if I could figure out how to make more money at it but for now I'll settle for trying to become a bankruptcy expert. One of my future bosses is actually the President of NACBA, which is a national bankruptcy attorney organization, so that's a pretty big deal. He's testified in front of Congress about bankruptcy issues, etc.

Good on y'all for trying to stay home with your boy for awhile. After a couple years she'll be ready to go back to work, but I believe parents and kids both benefit from spending the first couple years together.

I hear you. I'm not a fan of litigation either.

Your opportunity sounds great, I'm glad you are on a track that you want to be on.

You're from the NC area, right? If so, then it must be even more exciting for you to return home.

Thanks. I was born in PA actually, my mom is from the Northeast of that state and my dad is from Jersey. We moved to NC when I was in middle school and I went to High School and college there. Most of my high school and college freinds are my best friends today and a lot of them are still down there. I went to law school in Delaware and then got jobs in PA after that, which combined with the law school time is like 11 years now.

So so it is like going back home since my parents and one of my sisters and her husband are still there, but a lot of my extended family is up here in PA. So is my wife's extended family as well since she is also from PA/NJ, though her sister also happens to be in NC and her parents are moving there too (retirement and all).
 
I don't even know what I want to be when I grow up.
