Yeah, I knew going in it would be a lot of work. Hell, I have about 12 useless full grown trees that I'm going to have to cut down and grind their stumps down. It will keep me busy, no doubt. I might not have much time in the next few weeks to even post on this here board.

I sympathize. I'm putting in pipe fence now. Just posts and a top rail but it isn't easy work if you've never done it before. I will offer a word of advice though, if you have work that can be done by someone with a skid steer that knows how to run it, pay them!!!! It may cost $60-75 bucks an hour, but it's worth it. I had 2 burn piles that I was trying to level out with my tractor and bucket. I spent at least 20 hours on one of them and it only kinda looked ok. My next door neighbor was having some work done and I asked the guy with the skid steer to drill my post holes for me for fencing. He also leveled out both piles for me really nicely. In about an hour!!!!!!!!!!!! Watching him work that thing was amazing.

I'm very lucky where I'm at now. One of my new neighbors (who was also my realtor) has 96 acres of land near me. He has all kinds of equipment and a huge burn pile that I can use to haul these trees to. BTW, I will not be putting any fencing back up. I have a fence around the perimeter of my land and that will be it. I might put a small fence around my garden to keep the rabbits out, but that will be about it as far as fencing is concerned.

Did Houston all of a sudden develop caves for exploration? Do they have a lake that runs towards the city that you can enjoy at evening time that gives you a great view of downtown?

Dod Houston grow hills for hiking and jogging? Because last I checked, Houston didn't have any of that being as it is one of the flattest cities with almost no geographical variety to speak of.

Without even thinking about it, I just named a couple of very significant things you can do there that you can do here, and I can make that list grow even more without even trying too hard.

Houston has music festivals and people plan vacations around the livestock show.

I don't know how caves and hiking is so significant and it's not something that a large amount of people plan vacations around.

Houston has the Johnson space center which is a large draw.

I actually find that hard to believe. I can't see anyone going out of their way to visit Houston for the food.

Places like New Orleans and Chicago, sure. But Houston? Maybe I'm missing something.

I generally agree with Ace's assessment. Houston is a great city but I've never heard a person who doesn't have Texas roots say they are planning a vacation to Houston.

Houston is a great city for food in the last couple of years it has become known for the variety and quality of it's food.

Houston has never been hotter, and that is NOT a commentary on their famously muggy weather. The food scene in The City With An Airport Named After President Bush Elder is finally getting the recognition it deserves, as this has always been a good town to eat in, though in the past it was primarily recognized for its steak and BBQ acumen. Now though, thanks to the ascendancy of some notable chefs (Underbelly’s Chris Shepherd, Reef’s Bryan Caswell, etc.), a national audience recognizing its incredible Filipino, Vietnamese, and Chinese cuisine, and the city's historically delicious Czech kolache culture (spread it #kolacheculture), more and more people are flocking to Houston just to eat and soak through a couple T-shirts in the process.

I never claimed Houston is a great vacation city but Ace claims there is nothing to do in Houston and that is just False.

Visiting a friend somewhere and planning a trip to a city you consider a destination spot are two totally different things. And Houston isn't a city that people plan vacations for.

Nobody wants to go to Cleveland either, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't visit the city if I had friends or family there, and I bet I'd find some entertaining things to do while there, but you can do that in any major city.

Because I can go to a nice park, check out a museum, or visit an entertainment square somewhere doesn't make it a city with a ton to do, or a place that would allow a local to provide a visitor with an xperience that they would find unique and draw them back again.

That's Houston.

Down here they offer a special during the summer to showcase the local food/restaurants. It's called Miami Spice. I went to a couple of restaurants in 2014 and loved it. It's a great way to try new things at a decent price.

I'm not sure why I didn't go last year, probably slipped my mind, but I'll definitely be participating this summer.
