I agree. I don't need to watch a movie while sitting in a bar.
 
They have a similar theater here and I saw Guardians of the Galaxy in it.

Sorry, it is hard to concentrate on a movie trying to eat a Black and Bleu Burger in the effing dark.

It was nice for an experience, but I won't make a habit of it.
 
I rarely actually get a beer while watching a movie, but it's nice to have that option. Also, if you guys have watched movies in a place that feels like a bar, then you haven't been to a place like Alamo. You never even know they servers are there.

There are Alamo Draft Houses outside of Texas...we have one here in Omaha. I prefer a regular movie theater. Especially the ones now that have recliners.

I followed a link through a tweet last week and it was to an article about a brew and view that was going to potentially open in a city, and in the comments section the majority of the people were saying almost the exact same thing as you. Don't want to watch a movie in a bar with a bunch of drunk people, can't we do anything without alcohol anymore?, WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN???!!!, etc. That city? Fargo, ND. I am not :lol at you because that is the way you feel, it is just funny because the one person I know from NoDak is you and you had the exact same reaction as most of the people in the comments section. Something about you NoDakans that just doesn't like the idea I guess.

I totally get it if someone isn't into the concept but they have the wrong impression, IMO. I guess it depends on the theater but the Alamo Drafthouse specifically is nothing like watching a movie in a bar. A dark restaurant with minimally intrusive servers is closer to the truth, but it feels totally like a theater and not a restaurant or bar. I think people are envisioning a bunch of loud drunks or something but it could not be further from the truth. The majority of the people are not drinking alcohol and the ones that are are not loud and obnoxious. They have a very strict policy about causing a disturbance (including a no tolerance policy for cell phone usage) and are quick to throw people out if it becomes an issue. I have been to dozens and dozens of movies at Drafthouse locations over the years and the only time I have rarely, if ever, seen a problem.

So anyway, if it isn't your thing that's cool. But I think what a lot of people imagine the experience to be is inaccurate.

The popcorn smell in the theatres is overwhelming. I can only imagine what it would be with all the other cuisine odors mixed in but to each his own.
 
I instantly hate anything that calls itself a "view and brew".

We take our drinking very seriously. Chances are, there will be some kind of bar fight erupting.

We wouldn't want that to interrupt the movie. Or the movie to interrupt our drinking and fighting. Either/or.

Mine serves beer and the only noise that we get are from the younger parents that feel they have to go to the movies with their infants. Then they dont want to miss any of the movie so instead of leaving the theater they just stand by the door with the screaming infant. You will get that any theater. I would just rather be comfortable with options if I have to put up with that.

One advantage of being retired is you can go to the theatre on weekdays in the mornings and you will almost have the theatre to yourself. The tickets are less also.

That's generally when we go. Like with Star Wars, we will go mid-week sometime over the break at something like 11am. The main reason is because I hate people as a rule, so the less of them there are around me the better.

No kidding. Alamo theaters are the quietest, most peaceful ones I've ever been in. They are not afraid to kick you out if you make a peep and do not allow small children in period. They also don't allow in anyone under 18 without an adult. It is movie heaven.

Like I said, it's the only place I go to watch movies.

Yep, I take them to Alamo with me. The allow kids in. They just don't allow anyone under 18 in without an adult, no matter the movie rating.
 
I may not even watch the game tonight...been a long time since I have cared so little. Even the year Phillips got fired you could kind of feel the changes coming...not this year. Going to be the same staff and philosophy next year.

No reason to watch another minute of NFL football for 2015 as far as I'm concerned.

The college football playoffs can't get here fast enough.
