Feel good story for the day:

On my way home earlier, I saw two beagles in my neighborhood running around. I could tell that these were someone's pets that must have gotten loose somehow. I'm at a 4-way stop and these dogs were running aimlessly in the street. The way that dogs wander around when they are starving and have been on the loose for a while.

Seeing how nice these dogs looked, I couldn't just leave them out there like that.....especially while it was storming. I couldn't get them in my car so I drove home (about 3 min away), got some sandwich meat and drove back around. It took me a few minutes but I found them again. My son and I got out of the car and lured them into the backseat with the sandwich meat and I took them home. I called my BIL who owns a dog and had him bring me some dog shampoo and gave them a bath, fed them, then let them in the house with me since I could tell they were domesticated.

These dogs were awesome. They didn't climb on anything nor did they bark even once. It didn't take long for them to get comfortable around us. Meanwhile, I went onto my communities facebook page and posted pics of them and a message stating that I was looking to reunite them with their owner. A got a couple of messages but no one seemed to be the owner. So I'm getting ready to sit down and crack open a beer and watch the game with my new pals, and sure enough the owners show up. They were ecstatic and the lady even cried about it. The coupled stated that the dogs somehow got out around 7 am this morning, and I found them around 1 pm.

I don't own a dog, but I am a dog lover, and I'm glad that I was able to make someone's day.

CSB, I know....but I know we have a lot of dog lovers on this site who will appreciate this tale.

I know you will get a CSB from the crowd (and probably myself as well) but having lost my dog one night I know that feeling. Lost my dog overnight and was able to find her through Craigs List the following morning. We drove around the neighborhood for hours that night and couldnt find her. Just a big weight lifted off our shoulders when we received the call that someone had found her. You made their day for sure.

I've never owned a beagle, but the owners told me that beagles are notorious for running off. She says they were getting ready to give them a bath before they went out for the day and they didn't realize that they had left the gate open. And being as they were about to bathe them, she had taken the collar off which is why we couldn't find any info on them.

All in all, I don't own a dog now but I did and I know how much they mean to people. I'm glad I was able to help make someone's day.
 
I am sure that be beagle owners love their dogs but I am equally sure their neighbors do not. They are the most obnoxious barking machine ever created. There was a beagle who resided across the alley from my home and there were times I could have dropped an anvil on him. Cute? Yes but so aggravating to be a neighbor.

From the time I got the dogs in my car till the time they left my home, these dogs didn't bark once. Now, maybe they were the exception because it seemed like these dogs were very well trained in general.

They were very calm dogs all around. No barking, no jumping, nothing.....if I told them to sit, they sat.

I almost wish I could've kept them around longer.
 
We have some sort of mix breed/husky. She is a great dog but the dang thing bolts any chance she gets. Then she runs around like an isane idiot rolling around in deer crap for what seems like forever. After we have to give her a bath because she smells like anus after her little poop party. She scares the crap out of everyone in the neighborhood. There is basically nothing that you can do about it until he gets tired and comes home. It leaves me feeling like beating her but I'm guessing that is not the proper way that a grandparent should train a dog.

What gives?
 
The answer to your question is a shock collar.

They sound cruel, they aren't. They are awesome training tools. If used correctly you would never have to shock the dog after the first day or two.

We had some friends who had 2 beagles and they asked us to come by a few times a day to let them out and feed them. It wasnt the barking that sucked, it was the howling. High pitched and they did it forever.

A friend of mine works for this company and says this product works well. He's not a salesman and would be the first person to say "Yeah, I work for this company but their product sucks" if that were the case.

I trained a pit without a shock collar. Pretty much FACE.

That is a great deal of what I was referencing. I just made it all inclusive in the bark. They sound horrible. It's like someone was torturing them the way they sound. In reality they are tortuing everyone within earshot.

Now that they did do.

I kept them in the garage until my BIL showed up with the stuff to bathe them. But while they were in there, they did some howling.

My dogs sleep with my kids without supervision.
