I've eaten at Casa Rio a few times. Pretty meh. Better than Cafe Ole, but still not much to get excited about. I was seated near Bob Costas' table at Cafe Ole after a Spurs game one time though (CSB).

Rosario's is also pretty good as far as TexMex goes but it is not on the Riverwalk.

Rosario's is a great suggestion. Their queso is fantastic. Imo they have a really unique taste that you don't just anywhere.

There is a number of hole in the wall Mexican joints nearby downtown. I'll try to make a list for ya.

If you are looking for breakfast please please do yourself a favor and make your way over to Pancake Joes.
 
Aw crap. Just go to Taco Bell and forget about it. You might do better at a hamburger joint come to think about it.

Looks like Rosario's is on S. Alamo and my hotel is on S. Alamo, so Rosario's it is.

I have returned since several times but actually the downtown area hasn't changed that much. The riverwalk which was a renovation from the hemisphere fair is the obvious change. From that point San Antonio became a tourist city. Before that it was a GI town with 5 major military installations. There were also a couple of smaller intelligence training places as well. End of history lesson.
