I was thinking about ways you guys could increase traffic because you guyses want too, and this is what I thought of....

1... you have like 150 so members, but only 100 or so are "active", meaning only 100 of the people who have accounts have visited the site in the past month or so. At least I think thats the definition of being active is. I forget. So what might be the case is, 1/3 of your members might've registered and then the sight slipped their mind or what have you. Like that kid in Jacksonville who was all gung ho in his first post then just disappeared. Theres an option to Email everyone at their registered Email address. Use it. Send an invite to the Mayock or something. Might prompt some people to remember they have accounts here and get a few more warm bodies posting.

2.... instead of just tweeting "HEY COME POST AT THE DCC DERRRRR!!!", follow some Cowboys fans on Twitter. Most people will follow you back if you follow them. Figure out which ones are Joe Fans and which ones are the kinds of people you'd want here. Then, instead of asking them to register, create an account for them - just make their username whatever their twitter handle is, minus the @. Then send them a DM saying "Hey, check out our forum, here's your log in information. Post or fuck off." Something like that. I did that to a couple people and got a few new posters.

But yeah, like I said earlier, you guys are fucked when it comes to getting new traffic. Message boards are dying off, for the most part. I've tried just about everything in the book and its virtually impossible generating new, consistant traffic. Blame social media. Think of CZ.com.... do they have any new/young/intelligent posters coming? Or is it all the same people who've been there since like 2004-2007 for the most part rehashing the same arguments. Alts not included.
 
Yeah, I have done quite a bit of one on one with other twitterers. The blasts generate some new traffic, but it mainly serves to bring googlebots and bingbots to the site to generate new scans. The more often you can get a Google Spider to scan your site, the further up the list of results you move when someone searches. I think we have only gotten one new member from a blast, but even that member I had talked to some beforehand.

If you have some suggestions on wording of a blast, shoot it to me. I have been trying lately to tweet about specific threads like the draft chatter thread, etc, but I'm open to whatever.
