I got so excited about the invite, I just kept on running all the way to his house.

Just a salt rub? Never heard of it. I wonder what kind of meat he's cooking.

A brine can be more than just salt, I usually go with apple cider based brine

But you can't do apple cider in a dry brine by definition. It would just be salt.

Salt and other spices, hence, a rub

OK, so no "Lay down on your desk, close your eyes, and open your mouth" initiation/'trust' ritual for the Teabag Club? Good to know.

Your posts, they confuse me. He said dry brine. I say that would basically just be a salt rub and you come back with a liquid brine combo. He said dry.

Just put my turkey in a cranberry (fuck off, booze) based brine. 14 hours in it's bath, then in to the fryer.

This gallant turkey has met a glorious end.

I use other spices besides salt in my brine so if I omitted the liquids it seems to me it would be the same as a rub. Also I have doubts it will work as well as a traditional wet brine

I think I have the turkey preparatory down correctly. I don't fix em. I don't eat em.
