Come to think of it, I might've not even broken up a fight. Maybe the one guy just lost a lot of bust in the chops wagers to the other guy.

So I basically have about 4 or 5 weeks until I learn my fate at the job.

We were bought out a few weeks ago and the deal closes end of July. By mid July, we'll find out whether they are taking us over there or if we're being laid off with a 6 months severance package.

Is it wrong to want the severance instead? :art

As long as there are tech jobs available, I think a 6 month severance would be a pretty sweet deal. Give you a much needed break. This field is exhausting. To be able to take a breather would be great, but you could also get left behind. Keep your skills sharp.

If anything ever happens in my local area where I lose my job, I'd probably have to consider ATL. You can pretty much walk in making 100K, but city life is not for me. I hate traffic and congestion.

The few times that I have driven in Atlanta I don't blame you. It is beyond horrid.

There are some jobs, but you have tons of people looking for them being as the oil and gas industry has taken such a hit, and Houston is full of these types of companies.

I'm sure hundreds of IT employees have been laid off in recent months, so they are looking for jobs. I'm open to relocate within the state, so hopefully that opens more opportunities for me.

And yes, I wouldn't mind taking a month off of work for sure.

If I had an Inspector Gadget-type of personal helicopter, I would try to get a job up there.

I'm 120 miles out, though, and the commute would make it impossible.

An acquaintance from a previous job lived 10 miles from his job in ATL. He had an hour and a half commute morning and evening.

I would rage out by the first Wednesday on the job.
 
Shit, forgot to include name.

Former acquaintance's name was Samuel.

I think he was of middle Eastern descent, and he was a wiz on Lotus Notes.
