I'm not going to bury the Seahawks yet. They have a system in place that works and are still the best team in their division.

I think they are a fine team, they will just be one without the huge advantage of having multiple stud DL, stud DBs, stud QB, and stud RB all on the cheap like in 2013.

They won't be able to add free agents like they have been,

probably because it wasn't his call, and the pass wasn't a bad one. Butler just jumped the route and outmuscled the receiver.

It really is amazing how brutal some of these playoff losses were this year. The deeper the round the more devastating they seemed to be. As bad as Dallas' was, GB and Seattle's were even worse and at the precipice of the SB or winning it all.

We were fortunate in the '90's to win 3 Super Bowls and only have one deep playoff loss, '94 NFCC game. The Patriots were kind of mimicking that in Brady's first four years but then had two brutal SB losses and 3 other AFCC game losses in the last 10 years. I was hoping for another last night so Brady wouldn't get that elusive 4th, but Seattle took one instead. And then there's the 49ers who had a couple of gut-wrenching NFCC game losses and one SB loss when they were knocking on the door in the final minute. And now they are possibly in a position to not get a SB with that cast of players.

As much as you want to avoid that type of loss, it's almost inevitable if you are actually a contender for any amount of time. I had my share of them growing up with the '78 SB and then the 80-82 NFCC games, but if Dallas ever gets back to the top we'll no doubt have to endure some of these type losses along the way again.

IMO...yes. I mean if they win one of the Giants SBs does that change it? Speaks well of the coach, QB, and front office that they can compete at the highest level every year.

It also speaks highly of the shitty division they've been fortunate to play in.

I've had it with Russell Wilson. Seems like he's a hell of a guy & all that. Good for him. Doesn't mean I have to like him. He really appears to do everything he can to totally play up the 'I'm the right kind of guy. I am just an outstanding young man.' image & he irritates me to no end. Seems like a total kiss ass that was always a teacher's pet & had a strong need to hear everyone refer to him as that 'outstanding young man'. I suppose it is completely unfair of me to have that attitude towards him given the amount of truly detestable dirtbags in pro sports but to hell with Russell Wilson anyway.

Dallas had a better offense than both Superbowl teams, and certainly one that matched up well against either defense. Cowboys should have been in that game. What a missed opportunity.

Doug Baldwin sought out reporter for weird practice rant

Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin pretended to drop his pants Sunday night.

But he was apparently showing his rear well before then.

According to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, Baldwin approached him during practice last week with a weird rant about the perceived lack of respect for the Seahawks receivers. King was the pool reporter at Seahawks practices assigned by the Pro Football Writers of America, thus the only reporter present for the entire workout.

“You’re into this mediocre receiver s—, right? I read your s—,” Baldwin said, directly to King, who indicated he knew not what Baldwin was talking about.

“You’re one of them!” he said. “I read your s—.”

Apparently, Baldwin had s— on his mind all week, and not just while celebrating.

To run the risk of painting with too broad a brush here, it’s easy to draw a conclusion about Baldwin’s antics and the result of the game.

The Seahawks as a group let their emotions get the better of them at several junctures, including the embarrassing end-game fight (and getting drawn into an encroachment penalty which allowed the Patriots to take an easy knee).

They’re a very good football team. But they’ve played the swaggering bully card for so long, that they didn’t respond well when someone finally punched back.

I even get the concept of trying to catch the defense off guard but that type of play would have been a bootleg or something like that. Make them think you are going to Lynch and then throw somewhere else. Instead Seattle went with a shotgun offense and a quick pass to the receiver. That play was set up for failure in every way possible.

Exactly. Not too many people were like, 'throw the ball here at the 1" and then when it was INT'd did a reversal to "should've run it". I'd say everyone outside of Carroll, Bevell and Garrett thought a run from the 1 was the right call at the time.
