I'm 58. Respect your elders.

This weather FUCKING SUCKS
It was 82 here yesterday. I went fishing. Is it still snowing there?
Nothing ever good comes from yankeeland. It was almost 80 here today as well.No but it's about 10 degrees with 45 mph wind. Wind chill is probably -10.
I had to buy balloons this morning and one of them got deflated just walking from my car to my front door. Another one I swear to God just disappeared. Literally I had 5 and I got in my house and there were suddenly 4 and I have no idea what happened to the missing one.

OFFICIAL HANGING PLANT and Flying Trampoline ADVISORY: N Texas & Oklahoma
DEFCON 3 FOR PORCH PLANTS: Bring your leafy bastards inside tonight, or prepare to sweep up botanical shrapnel.
DEFCON 3 FOR TRAMPOLINES: If your backyard bounce-pad isn't heavily anchored, congratulations—you now own a low-altitude aircraft.

Gusty winds will push further south into Texas later in the day but should be under "Advisory" levels (30-40mph)I was just seeing that myself. My locals are yahoos, so I'll check News 9 in OKC.Chapo, just saw on our local news that you guys might be hit with some crazy weather today. Is it just thunderstorms? Or what is your local stations saying?
We had a cloud pop up day before yesterday and it looked dark and almost ominous. But, we survived the 15 rain drops that hit the ground. And, our locals are chicken littles, as well. We call one of them Run for the Hills Roberts. We do have a chance later this week and over the weekend so I'm hoping we get something out of that. This morning I just happened to see that you guys are in the "elevated" area but again our locals are just as jumpy as yours, so thought maybe yours would be more accurate.I was just seeing that myself. But you know I think they've turned into chicken littles on the severe weather stuff -- maybe they think they have to protect themselves, I don't know -- but I'm just happy it might rain. We unexpectedly got over 0.6 last night, which is the biggest rain in several months. Wouldn't break my heart to avoid the big hail, though...
It's not just the locals, it's the actual NWS. They sensationalize everything now, almost like they're afraid of being sued if things are worse than they predict. Sad!This morning I just happened to see that you guys are in the "elevated" area but again our locals are just as jumpy as yours, so thought maybe yours would be more accurate.
Yeah, you have to think it's just to indemnify themselves, but then you risk overwhelming basic services like grocery stores and gas stations. But, I guess as long as they take the risk off themselves it doesn't matter to them. Personally, I think it is a disservice to those business owners, but in today's world it's all about covering your own ass regardless of the fallout. It's not just the locals, it's the actual NWS. Sorry, man, I know it's not funny, but this sound exactly like something that would happen to me. Pray for rain for months and then when you finally might get some it fucks up something else you're trying to do. And if your luck is anything like mine you will climb up there and go to the trouble of throwing down a tarp and then get jack shit for rain.Another thing for me, I'm scheduled to get a new roof next week and now it starts raining? Am I really going to have to get up there and tarp off a little part of my roof where I've lost some shingles in just the last couple of weeks?

I am wondering how bad things have to be to need a tarp? Anyone know?Sorry, man, I know it's not funny, but this sound exactly like something that would happen to me. Someone else may have more solid advice than me but I would think if it is just one rain, and you can let it dry out completely before having the roof put on you should be okay. Assuming the decking is in good shape to start of course.I am wondering how bad things have to be to need a tarp? Anyone know?
I just don't want to get some decking ruined to the point where I have to pay for new decking at an arm and a leg per square foot. Not sure if one good rain would do that or not...![]()
That's what I'd think also. The roof guy already said I didn't have any deck damage... Which I shouldn't because it wasn't that bad, just time for new shingles. But I did lose several in those stupid winds we've been having the last few weeks.Someone else may have more solid advice than me but I would think if it is just one rain, and you can let it dry out completely before having the roof put on you should be okay. The winds are the worst part. I have a roofing company coming today to inspect our roof as a matter of fact. My deductible is ridiculous, so unless it's a total loss I will just have to pay out of pocket to get it repaired instead of replaced. That's what I'd think also.
