Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Thread

Good to see them getting destroyed in the comments.

Since I grew up white, I had all the things.

There were times we were toilet paper insecure (this before COVID, ya cunts), had to deal with the electricity being on and off. And yes, poverty food.

Salmon “croquettes”. Those fucking frozen salisbury steaks. I can go on and on.

This generation sickens me because they honestly do not get it.

I was following a thread on X where a 21 year old was lamenting the fact he could not afford an apartment on his meager salary. Fuck, dude, we couldn’t either. That’s why we had roommates and ate Ramen a lot. I don’t understand the mindset that a middle class (or better) lifestyle should just be waiting for you to claim it.

Yes, we called them salmon patties, but same thing. Lots of beans and rice. And, my least favorite, spaghetti. My kids had it way better than I did, for sure.

They want to live as well as their parents, but their parents are at the finish line.

I do think house prices are absurd for kids today, but otherwise, I don't think kids realize that we had to scrimp and sacrifice to have anything, too. I don't think I moved out until at least 23, maybe even 24. Wasn't living like a pimp while saving, either.

Funny we all lived that. The struggle was real and yet life was awesome. No responsibilities, no other humans relying on you, it was basically just have fun with your friends all the time.

I moved out at 19, but if 52 year old me could talk to 19 year old me I would tell him to wait a couple of years. Those first few years on my own were rough. Thankfully, mom and dad had me over for dinner fairly often :lol

I definitely had more "me" time then, but it damn sure wasn't all fun and games. I had to work my ass off to stay afloat.
