Who cares where he catches it? He was like 11th in the entire league last year in YAC for WRs. Which blows out of the water your other stupid claim that he isn't very good in that area.

What you aren't comprehending is what 3rd WR in the league is not limited in some way? If they weren't limited they would be a #1. I'm not sure why that is so hard to understand.

The problem was Dallas only hedged their bets with Joseph Randle and they kept Ryan Williams way too long and re-signed him prematurely. I don't care about the money, but because they signed him I feel like they believed they could more easily ignore RB in the draft.

I have nothing against McFadden or Randle-- they are what they are.

It's the losers in our GM office who fail to recognize the historic chance they have right now with the OL and Romo and the run-first identity that succeeded so well last year.

Good lord, it doesn't matter that it was the fourth overall day of FA or whatever when every RB worth a shit is already signed. Three days into FA 90% of the good ones are gone. It's like someone says Ryan Russell was drafted late in the draft and you correct him with "He was drafted on only the 4th day of the draft, dipshit, but please continue..."

The meaningfulness of YAC changes when you're catching tiny dink passes. He has YAC because he almost has to have YAC, otherwise he'd have almost no yardage at all. Imagine a WR who catches bubble screens all the time-- 90% of his yardage would be YAC, but so what? He's averaging 11.1 yards per reception TOTAL... Dez Bryant's average yards AT reception is over 10!

Now if you catch a deep cross and gain the same YAC it's huge by comparison and threatens the defense.

With a proper development pipeline your #3 is limited because he's young and learning, not because he's 90% peaked, still is very limited, and signed a long term deal guaranteeing him a spot.

Well, then that means he is really good at YAC if he is catching short passes yet still getting 500 yards a season. Your argument is stupid.

With a proper development pipeline your #3 is limited because he's young and learning, not because he's 90% peaked, still is very limited, and signed a long term deal guaranteeing him a spot.

How many #3s move into the #1 role after some development? And, I'm not talking about one offs. I'm talking about on a regular basis. It rarely happens. Your argument is stupid.

Dallas was the 16th most productive pass offense last season, and I think that's too low.

If we're going to improve passing production it's gotta be at the #2-#4 spots and backup TE. The other two are already great.

We all hope Williams takes the next step after being the same his first two years.

Beasley improved greatly from his first year, why to feathers get so ruffled when I say he still needs to improve in year 4?

Packers, Steelers, and Patriots all work that way and I respect the Hell out of each of those front offices. Next man up-- a pipeline. That should be our goal, not the way average and below average teams do it.

Cobb, Edelman, and Brown were all #3's and even #4's at one point.

You are struggling here Ravi. The 16 th position comes from the team's production from the running game. Their mix was actually ideal last season.

As a team we were tops in the NFL in passer rating. Who gives a shit about yards. It's a pretty useless statistic.

Bill Parcells equated 100 yards to 7 points as a measure of effectiveness. Points are the bottom line, but it starts with gaining yards.

Yards are a result of the plays run. IF you pass the ball 50+ times you'll have more yards. If you pass the ball 25 times you'll have less. If you run a shit ton of plays in general (Eagles) you'll have more yards, if you run fewer plays and drain the clock you'll have less. It's why aggregating yards and judging an offense on them is about as retarded as you can get.
 
The offense needs to become more dangerous. Whether that means more yards, better redzone efficiency, whatever I don't care.

There's a lot of room for Cole Beasley and Terrance Williams to improve. Of course you throw Hanna, Street, and Escobar in there too, but the other two are the ones on the field, so it's on them to make the pass offense better.

It's that simple.

And of course it will have to happen since without a doubt we've taken a major step backwards at RB and in the running game in general.

We were fifth in points per game averaging over 29 points per game. Green Bay was the league leader at 30 points per game. I'd say we were right there with the top considering we were a ball control offense and the other top offenses were not. It would be pretty hard to get much better then we were on offense last year.

Now defensively there is plenty of room for improvement but we made some legit moves this off season to change that.
