I would have to see the bill he is talking about. There have so many iterations of this that I can't really have an opinion on this one way or the other until I read it myself. But, saying I am willing to give up my rights as a citizen for the greater good is never good optics and will sour a lot of people on him that were once on his side.

He's talking about himself not anyone else.

After reading it again you are probably right, but he probably should have added a "but" at the beginning of that line. FISA and how it can be used against normal citizens is a hot topic to some people, including myself, so he probably should have been more clear.
