And that's a huge part of the problem we see today.
I don't know how you do it, because it's a gargantuan task. But somehow our schools need a massive cleanup operation.
People have to abandon the public schools. That's the only way.
Do what North Carolina wisely did and skim off some of the grift, by funding vouchers for private schools. Every family in NC regardless of income qualifies for some amount of reimbursement for private school tuition. If your income is low enough, you can get up to 90% of private school tuition paid (if the tuition is also low enough).
There is a chain of private schools popping up around the southeast called Thales Academy, they promote a "classical" education and free market economics, they don't allow any of the political and woke content into their schools (in general - you get left leaning teachers because the industry is infested with them regardless, but for the most part they keep it under wraps). There's no drag queen story hour, they didn't force your kids to wear masks for years after the pandemic, they teach the founding fathers, etc. Tuition is relatively affordable especially with the voucher in NC. It's not perfect but its way better than public school.
The liberals in NC wailed that Republicans were stealing money from public schools, though Republicans wisely passed the voucher measure without reducing public school funding at the time of the bill. The commie governor still vetoed it, but Republicans had a veto-proof majority.
Since then NC public school enrollment is dropping precipitously because everyone knows that private schools are way better. Let the loser parents who don't care about the quality of their children's education keep sending their kids to be babysat and brainwashed by the Nannie state, the parents who do care need an option that the state is not providing them.
