PFT: Jerry Jones wants to see more touches for Cowboys’ backup backs

Funny how Parcells knew the worth in a zero yard run, but when Randle gains two yards after avoiding a tackle in the backfield, it's useless.

The one run was for a first down too...it was not a meaningless run.

Because the coaches have a better option.

It's crystal clear they don't trust Randle or Dunbar with any carries.

I have posted that I'd like to see Randle get as many as 9 carries interspersed throughout the game because we're f'ing stuck with him and I don't care that they go for minimal yardage so long as we're giving Murray the break he needs.

But the coaches see 2 carries go for just 4 yards where there are creases to gain more and they quickly shut it down. They don't even give Dunbar a chance.

:lol

You're all over the place with this Randle hate. It's quite amusing.

Some just can't be objective about Randle. He's not a top flight RB but his isn't a turd either. He is an average back that can st the yardage most of the time.

Have to wonder why teams like San Diego and Carolina haven't tried to snatch Ryan Williams. Even Detroit with Bush and Bell injured.

I wondered that myself...he looked good in the preseason too.

But clear the coaches themselves don't trust him. How else can you explain just 2 carries and none for Dunbar?

I can't explain it. Neither can you.

But I'm enjoying watching you try.

Not sure what you mean. To summarize:

1) It's clear the coaches have a FAR better option than either Randle or Dunbar in Murray and are using it, regardless of the wear on Murray's legs.

2) Parcells would run the ball even if it meant minimal gain. The prospect of minimal gain (either from running backups or failing to get a closing 1st down) scares our coaches into other choices (better runners, foolish passes that don't burn clock).

3) I personally would run Randle and Dunbar more (even though I don't care for Randle) to preserve Murray. Our coaches refuse for the reasons above and fear of losing.

4) I can't blame the coaches too much (yet), because Murray has carried them to 4-1.

I'll also add that Parcells admitted he shortened Joe Morris' career in the 1980's by running him too much. Our coaches aren't learning from that mistake, but (shockingly enough) our GM has.

20-25 for Murray
5-10 for Dunbar\Randle
