We will see. I hope it doesn't. It's a damn good movie. Way better than Birdman which is supposedly it's best competitor it seems.

Him losing won't prove anything. He didn't win the Golden Globe for it and nobody brought up a fake baby being the reason.

American Sniper won't win. IT's not the type of movie that crowd would celebrate. Even though most of America is loving it.

Birdman has been played on less than a 1000 theaters, AS has been everywhere. You really can't compare them by those numbers. If we did, the Transformers movies would be winning Oscars.

The only gauge I know is Rotten Tomatoes and it shows Birdman is much more popular.

It's a public thing not an award issue. Peers vote for the awards notwithstanding what the public goes to see. I'm not debating what is critically best rather box office results.

Ya, that's not what we're talking about. Box office doesn't equal popularity. Lots of movies make tons of money and suck. ie: Transformers movies

Not saying AS sucks, but claiming it's the best movie and most popular because it drew a lot of money is dumb. Box office has just as much to do with marketing and how many theaters is plays in as it does the movie itself.

Can't you read anything with objectivity? You don't have to defend anything as being best. I only said the public has made Sniper the more popular of the two by virtue of the box office. That's not an opinion It's just a matter of the outcome.

Don't be obnoxious Deuce. I didn't say it was more deserving that the others. I merely said that it wouldn't win regardless. That is not the type of movie the crowd that votes for the awards would approve of. I really don't thin Eastwood and those involved care anyway. It is popular with Americans everywhere which in the grand scheme is more important to them because it validates them making it. And don't give me Hurt Locker as a similar film because it wasn't really. and No where near as viable in the box office.
 
Harrison Ford to Return for ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel Directed by Denis Villeneuve

“Prisoners” director Denis Villeneuve is in negotiations to direct Harrison Ford in the “Blade Runner” sequel for Alcon Entertainment.

The announcement was made on Thursday.

Written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, the “Blade Runner” sequel will take place several decades after the 1982 original.

Ford recently said the second installment’s script was the “best thing he’s ever read.” He will reprise his role as Rick Deckard in the film, which originally took place in a dystopian 2019 Los Angeles.

Further plot details are known.

Ridley Scott will produce the sci-fi thriller alongside Alcon’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

“We are honored that Harrison is joining us on this journey with Denis Villeneuve, who is a singular talent, as we experienced personally on ‘Prisoners,'” Kosove and Johnson said in a joint statement. “Hampton and Michael, with Ridley Scott, have crafted a uniquely potent and faithful sequel to one of the most universally celebrated films of all time, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with this amazing, creative team.”

Villeneuve was Oscar nominated for directing “Incendies.” He most recently helmed Jake Gyllenhaal in “Enemy.”

His next film “Sicario” stars Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Benecio Del Toro. It opens nationwide Sept. 18.

Goddard, in addition to his aborted credit in Sony's Spider universe, co-wrote his directorial debut Cabin in the Woods with current Marvel heavyweight Joss Whedon, so him being pulled into the project makes sense. A source tells Latino-Review that the new series will be titled The Spectacular Spider-Man — fitting since it draws its name from the yet another long-running Spider-Man book. The first film of the franchise will reportedly involve Spider-Man fighting Iron Man as an "audition" for his eventual spot on the Avengers roster. Meanwhile, the seeds for an eventual Sinister Six film will be set, with the plan to potentially spin them off in the future.

Neither Marvel nor Sony have commented on the news.

Cabin in the Woods was excellent...and he suckled at the teet of Abrams, so I am excited for him to take it over.

I don't know why Iron Man needs to be in this though...that is the rumor. I am tired of Iron Man.
