Must See Movies

Watched the following:

The Drop - Liked it. Tom Hardy will be a star.

The Imitation Game - Pretty good

The Theory of Everything - Not really for me. A little boring.

Managed to get to the end of Boyhood. Like other Linklater movies, it feels contrived.

Just watched Birdman...

I really didn't like it at all. The way it ended was terrible, IMO. I really thought they would actually tie the psychosis together at the end, but they just didn't. The way his daughter looked up like he flew away like he was actually Birdman was dumb. Why it was nominated for an Oscar is beyond me.

I thought it was great.

Um, yeah. I just watched Birdman and while I liked it. I hated it. You know what I mean.

I really liked it too. I think the ending is open ended too. Keaton and Norton were great.

I thought it was pretty cool how they played to the actor's reputations. Norton has a reputation for being that difficult to work with and it is one of the reasons Marvel replaced him with Ruffalo. I enjoyed it overall but it wasn't my favorite of the year or anything

I finally watched Man of Steel. I have to say I loved it. I don't get the weak reviews at all. I don't like Superman or Snyder so I expected to hate it, but it won me over big. Zod was probably the best comic book movie villain since the Joker. He wasn't even so much a villain as just the antagonist since everything he did made sense. Superman having to chose between his birth family and his adopted family - obviously you knew how that would turn out, but it had an emotion to it I didn't expect. Consider me hyped for Dawn of Justice.

Yeah count me in that column as well it was a well-done movie IMO.

I love Man of Steel too, but I actually found Zod to be the weak link. He was very one note...everything yelling.

He was genetically engineered to care about one thing - defending Krypton. All the terrible things he did in pursuit of his only responsibility and he still failed. To me he was a tragic figure. I thought he was away more relate-able than pretty much any Marvel villain outside of Loki in GotG

Good grief. Why the fuck did Clint film that scene using an obviously fake baby?

I heard they had 2 babies scheduled to be on set that day and neither showed up for whatever reason and instead of rescheduling he just said F it

That's the best way I can sum up my feelings on it as well. They acting was phenomenal, I just didn't like the movie all that much.

In that case it shows that Eastwood may not be cut out for directing. You can film around shit like that if you have to. He made it very obvious it was a fake baby in the shots he took.

~looks at Eastwood's directing credits~

Ya, he's obviously not cut out for this kind of work.

Well, he should have worked around a baby doll. It was a terrible misstep and it might cost him an Oscar.
