People aren't taking RBs in the first much any more, but the good ones aren't going to be available in the second half of the draft. Once you get down there, you're talking about more Joseph Randles.

And yet you can go through a lot of starting NFL RBs and a ton of them were drafting in the second half of the draft or not at all. So if they are all "Joseph Randles" then maybe Joseph Randle should get more playing time.

By the way this is a crazy deep draft at RB. Ameer Abdullah would be an absolute stud behind our O-line and someone like that will definitely fall in this draft. If not him then TJ Yeldon or Duke Johnson. I can almost guarantee there will be a RB in say the third round of this draft that people will be surprised is still available.

The fumbling problem is too much for me to overlook. $4 million/year, fine. But if he wants more than that then he can hit the road.

Same here.

I like Murray and was a big fan of him this year, but that fumble the other day is still bothering me.

I just can't trust a guy like that and don't feel comfortable committing a ton of money to him when we can't trust him to protect the ball in the biggest moments.

Todd Gurley, Mike Davis and Duke Johnson should go in the 2nd. Wouldn't be surprised to see at least one drop to our pick. Question is whether we want to commit even a 2nd rounder to a RB this year. After that it gets a little more hit or miss with the 3rd-4th rounders.

I think you can get Jeremy Langford in the 3rd or 4th round...and David Cobb from Minn even later. I like both of these back.

Of course he won't. Look at the list of players who've had seasons like and what they did the seasons after. Taking out the players who got injured, the production dropped something like an average of 700-800 yards for the year. Only Sanders would put up another season like it.

You may even consider the injury factor, too. That many carries and that many hits has a way of catching up.

We need more on defense then just defensive line. That would be my only problem with your scenario.

I mean, is another running back going to give you 1800 yards? Of course not. But that kind of thing isn't even needed these days for a good rushing attack really. You could go with multiple backs keeping each of them fresh and still finish as a top 5 rushing team.

If it's Murray, or maybe adding a DL and FS in free agency, I'm going the latter I think. I'll take a back in the draft and go next year with Williams/rookie/Randle/Dunbar.

That was pretty much my point. Randle could get 1000 and change behind this line, but if you want to replace Murray's production, we're not getting it in the later rounds short of a miracle.

Yes and no, Clinton Portis wasn't as good as Terrell Davis, and Reuben Dreughns was no Clinton Portis. With each downgrade to RB there was a significant dropoff in production.

Yeah, Olandis Gary followed Davis' 2008 yards with 1159 yards. Which would be like Randle taking over for Murray and running for 1065 yards. Sounds about right.
