Murray hand surgery

I betcha they play him.

It's sure sounding like it. Jerry was all about smoke and mirrors on his weekly radio interview when talking about Murray, but I think it was just that.

Murray will play but I'm sure Dallas will keep it in question until the last second. If it was really in question I think you'd see Dallas bring up a RB to the roster.

1. Randle goes in and breaks out Julius Jones style.

2. Murray rapes some farm animals and is kicked out of the league.

3. Jerry overestimates Randle's worth and signs him to a big contract in 2 years.

4. Romo's head falls off and we are back to 5-11 for three seasons.

5. WTF?

Supposedly the surgery makes the bone stronger then ever. So I'm not sure what the risk or "mistake" would be.
You're putting the ball in the hands of a player with a cast who already has trouble fumbling. He won't be able to protect the ball or his qb with his hand bound up in a cast.

They demonstrated on NFLN how it would't work out so good.

From my understanding it isn't going to be in a cast. They will just pad part of his hand. If he can hold on to the ball there is no risk in my opinion. Not the first time a player has played with this injury.

I watched the thing on NFL Network and I'm going to have to strongly disagree with their analysis. They try to make it sound like Murray won't be able to use his hand at all, it simply isn't true.

The one thing they did accurately point out is that Murray is a right handed ball carrier and it's his left hand with the broken bone. That means it probably won't impact his ability to hold on to the ball much.

I thought Emmitt had the same injury and missed a game?

Eddie Lacy had the injury and didn't miss any time as was pointed out earlier in this thread.

Not sure what 1 week of sitting gains you. The bone take 6 weeks to heal. I'm guessing the quality of the surgery has advanced significantly since the days of Emmitt.

DeMarco Murray's fumbles have stopped
December, 17, 2014

IRVING, Texas -- DeMarco Murray's five lost fumbles are the most in the NFL this season among non-quarterbacks. On Monday he had surgery to repair a broken left hand, leading to obvious ball security questions.

While there is confidence that he could be able to play through the injury Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, the Cowboys have to be sure Murray can "handle the ball under duress," as Jason Garrett said on Monday.

Since Week 6, Murray has not fumbled in his last 221 rushing attempts, which is the longest streak on carries in the league, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell has 175 straight carries without a fumble. Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte and Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris have 148 carries without a fumble.

Overall, Murray has not fumbled since Week 8 against the Washington Redskins when the ball was knocked loose on a 36-yard catch at the Washington 10. He has had 203 touches without a fumble since the Redskins' game.

If he plays against the Colts, Murray will wear a glove fitted with extra protection on the top of his hand or some kind of cast. He carries the ball predominantly in his right hand, but he has used his left hand more this season. There is also an issue of pass protection and catching the ball that could be problematic.

"Obviously he has to be functional," Garrett said.

Yeah, recall it happened the night he broke Walter Payton's record, we were playing Minnesota. He had like a buck~fitty that night. He was demon possessed that night.

Didn't he break the record vs Seattle?

If Murray thinks he can go, let him. If the hand turns out to be an issue, sit him and hope that Randle and Dunbar will suffice.
