The whole charm is having individual thought processes at work. We have done enough of these to know it sucks when you have teams with no GM. It eliminates the possibility of an off the wall choice that could have an impact on the whole deal. In other words, the fun goes out of it.

I hated the drafts where we had a shitton of voted picks. We never really had anyone of note drop because they always got voted into a team where the GM was absent somewhere around where the predraft lists had them.

I don't know how we do it, but I find PMing picks and trades to a mod as clunky and slow. I wish there was a way it was automated.
 
It would be cool if we had every single person that has agreed to participate turned in a list the day before or something. That way we are guaranteed picks. Folks can still PM their picks as they come in or we can work off of a list.
