Micah was bullshitting. He wouldn't have hired this agent if he didn't want a record breaking deal. That's what this agent does.

Agree that this is mostly spin, but I do think those leadership and work ethic type things could be a factor in offering a guy 41 million a year vs 47.

I watched the all-22 of the Philly playoff game last night and Clark was really good against the run, had a few plays where he got blown out by double teams (i.e. Mailata/Dickerson, which is to be expected) but several where he stood up some of their best OL and didn't allow any movement in his gap.

On the run plays where Clark was on the field Barkley only had like 75 yards on 18 carries I think.

He's definitely going to be the best 1-Tech DT we've had in over 10 years. And I heard he was battling a toe injury all season last year. DT's can be productive until mid-30's.

Wait, where is this 'problem' narrative coming from exactly, all I heard being said was their decision to trade Micah was unanimous.

Several reporters (Jane Slater was one) have reported that privately the Cowboys patience had worn thin with Parsons, that his attitude was sometimes bad and that some players had complained to coaches / management in the past about him basically putting blame on them in his podcast and whatnot.

Yea that stuff dates back to at least last season, maybe further back.

He had an issue with Hooker I think after blaming guys for not doing their jobs in the Green Bay playoff game.

That was probably true but he sure as shit wasn't doing anything either.

As you might imagine, TonyD, I'm super excited to see Clark as a Cowboy.

People don't understand NFL defenses. They think Lawrence Taylor was the whole Giants defense, when there fing IS no Lawrence Taylor without Leonard Marshall, Jim Burt, and George Martin. Marshall alone was a god-damned menace.

We were effectively trying that with Micah, fielding him with no line to protect him.

We replace Micah with an ensemble rotation and AT LAST add a piece that can defeat offenses head on. Clark is at the literal heart of the defense.

Talking heads on TV have no fucking clue how much a difference that guy can make. They are going to go look up his sack numbers.

Slater alludes to it at about 1:45 in this clip. Supposedly came from a former coach and indirectly from players. Micah essentially floated around at meetings, didn't take football seriously, didn't seem to love it, and would say one thing but do another.

I don't think this is a big secret... players and coaches got frustrated that he played outside the scheme. I remember Broaddus saying one time on his playing more linebacker, that Micah didn't want to do that because it required more film study and classroom work, and he wanted to just rush the passer. Also heard Calvin Watkins on the Ticket today saying he was doing a story on Micah and asked Charles Haley for some input and Haley wouldn't even comment because he said he couldn't get along with him. (At some point they mended things somewhat.)

I don't think Micah is a bad guy at all, but there were lots of comments that he's a different cat.

No doubt Parcells was going for that here with Ware And Spears. Spears, alas, was no Marshall

I can see the coaches simply wanting a resolution so they could get on with the season.

Would you disagree? Had Dallas invested in their DL scouting a decade ago this might be a different conversation.

Instead we've converted Micah into DeMarcus Ware and made the same fool mistakes all over again.

One guy, on the edge, who weighs 60 pounds less than the toughest offensive lineman can not be the foundation of your defense.

Parsons has now ended up on a team that understands how defenses need to be built, and by accident their castoff player in Clark might revitalize our entire interior defense. They had DT talent to spare.

I expect Parsons to be more impactful than ever, and I also expect our defense will actually improve.
