Stephen Jones says Cowboys have the 'secret sauce' to win championships again, not to mention be better than 8-8

What’s going to make the Cowboys better than 8-8 this year? The “secret sauce,” says executive vice president Stephen Jones.

Answering a question from reporters about whether his father, owner Jerry Jones, hears criticism, Stephen said it is motivation.

“Obviously we feel like we have a great organization in the Cowboys, but we can always be better. We look for ways to be better,” Stephen said. “We do that both on the field and off the field. We’re convinced we’ve got the quote-unquote ‘secret sauce’ to ultimately put this thing back together again and win championships.”

The sauce includes making the playoffs, and Stephen was asked if the Cowboys’ record will be better than 8-8.

“We certainly expect it to be,” he said. “We want people to be accountable. Our commitment when we started was no more 8-8s. I think we’ve got good personnel. I think we’ve got a great staff. I think we can do that. We need to stay healthy. We need to stay focused. We need to get better every day. And I think we’ll be better than 8-8.”

Stephen said his father still has a drive to work and succeed, even at age 70.

“You don’t run across many people like him that are driven to be successful, not only in business, but I think he’s equally driven for the Cowboys to win championships,” Stephen said. “We’ve won them. He certainly doesn’t want to think we’re through winning them. I don’t think we’re through winning them. … I think it’s still out there for us to go get. We just have to keep working hard and keep holding everyone accountable to one another. I think good things will come.”

It is now official. Goof Son makes me cringe as bad as his father when he opens his damn mouth.

:lol

Secret Sauce?

Yeah. I turn the TV when he comes on.

It's just annoying propaganda/marketing. Try to ignore it as best as you can.

I would if these two dipshits were just lying. I honestly think they delude themselves into believing this shit. It would explain a lot of shitty moves they make.

Stephen, Jerry believe Garrett holding Cowboys accountable will make difference between 8-8 and playoffs

Executive vice president Stephen Jones said the accountability Jason Garrett is bringing to the Cowboys – pulling DeMarco Murray for a fumble, for example – will make the difference between finishing 8-8 again and making the playoffs.

“I have no issue with that,” Jones said Tuesday, talking to reporters at Valley Ranch. “I think Jason’s a great football coach. I think we’re lucky to have him. I think he gets better every year. I certainly support him.

“I know Jerry supports him in what he’s trying to get done with this team to make them more accountable and do things that will make the difference in finishing 8-8 versus getting in the playoffs and making noise and ultimately winning a championship.”

Jones said Garrett has more freedom to make decisions like that because he is free of the responsibilities of play-calling during games.

“I think it allows you to think about things like that,” Jones said. “I think that was some of the things we talked about. Obviously when you’re the offensive coordinator, that’s a lot of responsibility. You’re thinking about the offense and what the next play is. When you’re able to think about the whole team, it’s something obviously that we were looking at because we’re looking at ways to get better. We can do better as an organization, and I think that can be an example of what a coach can do when he can think of some of the smaller things.”

It would be a lot easier to ignore if they weren't also making the personnel decisions.

So they admit that, just as I've been saying, he hasn't been holding them accountable until now. Interesting.

Everyone is accountable except for the dipshits making the decisions. Seems legit.

He was just like overwhelmed by being the OC and now he's a walkaround coach, he has time....and stuff.

He can only hold them accountable if he has Jerrys approval.

There is where the gap between 8-8 and the playoffs is.

this sounds more like Jerry said bench anyone that fumbles in the next game to make an example

Yep. Welcome to the board, post more, seriously, and grab an avatar.

You will fit right in.

You fuckers have to be lying to yourselves if you don't -just for 1/2 second- wish nothing but misery and losses on this team when reading the shit the Jones' clan barfs up every offseason.

Guess I'm lying to myself.

I don't give a single fuck about what comes out of either of their mouths. Certainly not enough to get all teeth gnashing angry about it. It is just a game that has no bearing on my life, afterall. I know they are the braintrust building the team. And I don't like it, they're shitty, say stupid shit, etc... And there's nothing I can do about that. But the minute I start wishing for misery and losses is the minute I stop watching the team all together.
