Sure. We say it's easy to trade down. But for some strange reason, for as easy and beneficial it is to do, teams don't do it more often.

It's like with Guyton. Looks like a bad pick, but at least we got Beebe out of it, too. If we'd stood pat and just taken Guyton, it would really look extra bad.

Who all do I have to choose from? Just a few names.

To answer broadly, and of course it depends on what happens at 12, maybe an edge or one of the corners. I even like hyphen safety and that's around where he's been mocked a lot.

Yeah maybe Mesidor although I've seen him going higher. Howell probably, R Mason Thomas. Other guys I've been seeing going in to 20s.

I'd personally probably take Howell. But you have to be on with short arms.

I just do not like Parker and Faulk in the first. Their regression and lack of burst scares me.

But also depends what happens at 12. Does Bain fall to you at 12? Does Downs fall to you? Did you go with McCoy?

Forgot about Howell. And I think Mesidor goes before 20. Hope he does. I hate drafting age with premium picks. Not sure about R Mason Thomas. I think it's just smoke. I don't think he'll go before late 1st at the earliest.

I did say "depending on what we do at 12" after all.

Obviously the edge rushers aren't a consideration for me if we get Bain, same with the DB's if we get one at 12.

Yeah mostly trying to throw out guys I think could go between 20-32 but not the LBers. I do think one of the LBers goes late first but I honestly don't know which one and all 3 I think will be available at 20.

Yeah I agree with you, I'm not taking two DBs or two pass rushers in the first.

And we all obviously prefer a trade down. I'd love to have a second round pick to take a LBer. I think that's the money round for that position in this draft.

McNeil-Warren is the only one I'd take at 20 over the LBers. I think Faulk is going to have a Marcus Spears type of career. Maybe a little better, but that's the vibe I get. Parker doesn't excite me, either. Howell...? eh. Maybe. And Mesidor is just too damn old to be burning a 1st on. I'd do I with a 2nd, but it wouldn't like it. 3rd I'd start warming up to the idea. (drafting age. Not Mesidor)

I don't love the age thing but I think if Mesidor were 22 he'd probably go top 10ish, and given that we should be trying to maximize the next 3ish years I could see the value in an immediate contributor who has the talent beyond where you're getting him due to his age.

Not me. If we're determined to use a first on age, I'd just as soon use it to trade for an already established pass rusher. At least you already know what they're capable of in the NFL. As nice as Mesidor looks in college, it's still just a guess as to how he'll translate to the NFL. And he's already at his physical peak.

Downs (I think there's a real chance of this)
Bain
McCoy

And can't trade down?

And as much as I hate to say it, I wonder if a tackle is in play. If there's someone you love you might have to consider it. That might be the best overall value.

If it's one of the DB's I'd probably take an edge rusher/DL (Faulk, Parker, etc.) at 20, if it's Bain I'd take a DB or LB with McNeil-Warren being top of the list.

Not especially interested in the OT's unless Fano or Mauigoa somehow make it to 20.

Freeland is a project, Procter is wildly inconsistent, and Miller/Lomu are solid but wouldn't be a clear BPA, so I'm going defense.

In that scenario, trade down or not, I still take one of the 3 LBers.
