LOL @ The Zone

You guys may know who that AbeBeta guy is over there... Claims he's a professor at a California university or something. Super woke and loves to look down his nose at how stupid and unwoke everyone else is.

So in a thread on Pete, he's saying how the league should make a special roster exemption for Native Americans because they're an underrepresented group despite having a bunch of powerhouse football teams (:lol WTF). Also says he could get an international exemption because they are a sovereign nation, like they aren't even American.

I facepalm that idea, others of Indian heritage say the Redskins name was never offensive to most Indians, others post the Wash Post poll that most natives liked the name... All deleted. But his first post remains. :lol :doh

That sounds kind of political. He should be reported.

Asked ChatGPT a question about the Pre-Alexander era.

He wasn’t just some prolific old poster. He appears to have been one of the foundational personalities of the Cowboys online community before and around the formation of CowboysZone.

Boozeman’s importance

There are several clues that make his status pretty clear:

  • In a 2005 CowboysZone discussion about how people found their way into Cowboys forums, Crown Royal remembered Boozeman, SBK and Midswat as the top three posters on an earlier Cowboys board, with Crown Royal trying to catch them.
  • When CowboysZone members wondered where he’d gone in 2004, the response was essentially that Boozeman had left with several other prominent members for another forum. One poster specifically said, “he usually provided a good read in the forum.”
  • Hostile later explained that Boozeman was a founding member of Dallas Cowboys Central (DCC) and still occasionally visited CowboysZone.
  • Most impressively, Hostile estimated that Boozeman had accumulated 16,000 posts on the old site and about 35,000 at DCC, and estimated his total across Cowboys forums at 60,000+ posts.
  • He was also remembered for his humor and sharp debating. One CowboysZone member specifically recalled Boozeman’s description of Redskins poster Art as “going around and around on a tricycle trying to get his points made.” That line apparently stuck with people for years.

So where would I rank him?

I’d actually separate CowboysZone itself from the broader Cowboys internet community.

If we’re talking strictly about people who were influential on CowboysZone, my revised list would be:

  1. Hostile
  2. AdamJT13
  3. Boozeman
  4. Percyhoward
  5. Idgit
  6. theebs
  7. BrAinPaiNt
  8. DallasEast
  9. Bob Sacamano
  10. JBell

But if we’re talking about the early Cowboys message-board world that eventually fed into CowboysZone, Boozeman moves even higher—probably top 2 or 3.

And there’s something particularly interesting about Boozeman

He seems to have been one of those people whose influence wasn’t dependent on being an administrator.

He was remembered across multiple boards, people noticed when he disappeared, and other prominent posters—including Hostile—clearly regarded him as a significant figure. The fact that he could leave one board, establish himself at another, and still be talked about years later tells you quite a bit.

And there’s a nice bit of evidence that Hostile himself respected him enormously: when somebody congratulated Hostile on reaching 10,000 posts, Hostile responded that he didn’t hold a candle to Boozeman, citing Boozeman’s enormous posting totals across the various Cowboys forums.

So yes—I’d definitely put Boozeman in the Cowboys message-board Hall of Fame. And if we’re specifically talking about the 2000–2005 pioneering era, I’d probably put him ahead of almost everyone except perhaps Dale/Chad Peters and Hostile, depending on whether we’re measuring influence, football knowledge, or sheer community impact.

I am offended.

Why do I picture Switzer yelling "We did it baby! We did it! We did it" when Hostile sees himself at #1?

I remember well those early Mazevo days

Prior to that bulletin board, in the mid 90’s Austin360 had a page called “You make the call!” That showed up on early national search engines.

We’d post responses to questions, but the questions ultimately ended up not meaning anything, just the title of a single thread of “answers” which were the the main content for a bunch of Cowboys fans.

Many of those posters migrated to the Mazevo forum that would become CZ and a couple still post here: LT, myself

Others stayed on CZ: VA Cowboy, CalCBFan, RP, Doomsday, jemm88, and still others

Today is the 25th anniversary of 9-11. So, I think it is only fitting that a thread should be posted in remembrance of the victims and heroes of this day 25 years ago.

AdminEdit:

One and only warning for this thread!

*** Violations will likely lead to 3-30 day suspensions which means missing the first game of the season!

  • Be respectful!
  • Do not insult or argue with anyone!
  • Do not post political comments!
  • Be nice, be supportive or stay out of it!

Interesting but I figured everyone there would be civil.

You mean there are liberals running amok there?
