LOL @ The Eagles

Doesn't that clarify Goof "giving away" that seven? Roseman asked for a sixth, Stephen said we'll do a seventh, and Roseman accepted.

"We can't get him on the phone!"

I don't understand the panic of needing to contact the player before you make the pick. You're gonna pick him anyway, right? Just draft him and congratulate him after the fact. You're not gonna learn anything new about him in those two minutes.

My only guess is they want the player to hear it from the team before seeing it on a draft show or on social media?

Lemon was a valuable falling commodity and the Eagles made out, unfortunately, even after the two fourths.

This is why I don’t quite get the Commanders drafting Styles instead of a WR with the seventh overall pick.

He’s going to make an impact, but nothing next to having a star 2nd WR and key insurance if McLauren gets hurt. Positional value is real, and Barham in the 3rd is only marginally less impactful than Styles in the first. But Tyson in the first is a major add relative to the scrub Washington drafted in the 3rd round.

Who was the last impactful 3rd round WR?

These guys cost upwards of 40 million a year, and you have a chance to get that impact at a fraction of the cost a mere two years removed from playing in the NFC Championship Game.

Dumb

Roseman talked about that on the Rich Eisen show.

He said it's something he learned from Andy Reid and basically they're making sure nothing tragic happened and they aren't accidentally drafting a dead guy or anything.

Yep it's like a last second check to make sure the player is still alive and well.

Not sure if serious? To make sure he didn't die in the last two minutes? :shrug

They didn't know he was there at the draft and I don't believe they talked to him prior.

It seems pretty unlikely but then Len Bias died like a day after his draft so it's not impossible.

I can see if they can't get a hold of a guy on the biggest day of his professional life when basically every single one of them is sitting by his phone why they might have some level of concern.

I get the idea from a "process" perspective, but Lemon was literally in the green room surrounded by probably anywhere from 50-200 people if you wanted a sign of life.

Roseman said he didn't know Lemon was in the green room and in the future should have a list of who is there.

I have learned in my life insurance studies that you have to have proof of life the day you serve a life insurance policy. You have to either meet with them in person, video chat, or record a call where you ask them a few questions. If you just can't get that you have to have a signed letter certifying their existence (signed in front of notary, embassy official, or another authorized witness). It doesn't matter if you talked them the day before you have to have proof of life the day-of to execute the policy on the insurer end. At least in Texas you do. You also have to have proof life for things like annuity payouts, retirement payouts (certain kinds), etc. :geek

That's hilarious if true, the league always publicizes who's there, plus the whole TV thing.

Yep. We all knew who was going to be there ahead of time and we dont have near the access that he has. I could probably find the post here if I was of mind to look for it.

he's cooler than you

This is how I know I've gotten old. I can't tell if he's really acting like that because that's young people's mannerisms. Or if he's being ironic and pretending to be a douchey jackass.

anyway, good for him.
