Arguing with two lawyers that are both saying that I am arguing the way they normally argue and declaring it laughable is... well... laughable.
I'd say teachers being pegged as folk who constantly beat kids over the head with their views on morality is very misinformed.
I don't think I have been known for that. You and I aren't discussing a fact. We are discussing philosophical differences. You believe in more of a socialist society where wages are predetermined by difficulty of the job and how much you feel like someone "deserves" to earn. I believe in democracy and private business where pay is based on a free market economy and supply and demand. I believe the highest paid positions should be those that are most difficult to fill.
To be clear, I'm saying morality, political viewpoints, cultural positions, etc.
I think more teachers do it than not, in my experience.
I love how Smitty is coming out all anti-government and anti-state
when the government is run by lawyers for lawyers. Law in America has degenerated to such a Kafka-esque nightmare of regulation that it would take an army of lawyers to know and comply with the law, all because a bunch of lawyers like Smitty (only relevant, rather than scraping the bottom of the barrel) wrote the legal code to be complex.
(only relevant, rather than scraping the bottom of the barrel)
At least teachers don't intentionally confuse students and rewrite the curriculum just so the state will have to hire more teachers.
Coming out? Is this something new? I've been like this for years now.
I love how you're quick to generalize against cops but then get up on the cross for teachers as if they are any less worthy of being generalized against than policemen.
I completely agree with you. I don't see how this is a knock against me.
My profession is filled with scumbags. I generally try to steer clear of it all and stick to bankruptcy, something specifically mentioned as a legitimate function of the federal government by the US Constitution.
I beg to differ. Teachers go to bat to protect their jobs via unions all the time. And they definitely feed children lies.
Lobbying via unions isn't the same as writing the laws to just give yourself a job. Regardless, I don't live in a union state. Texas teachers don't have the right to bargain collectively.
Teachers feed kids lies?
I take it you just don't like economic efficiency? It's funny one of my best teachers was probably my high school economics teacher who I think made like $80,000.00 a year. People don't get paid based on the difficulty of their job. At least they don't in a free trade economy. When I say that teachers are overpaid it has nothing to do with how hard they work or what role they play in other people's lives. It has to do with the fact that there are way more teachers then need for teachers. This is a result of teachers being overpaid. Like I said, if they were being underpaid there wouldn't be so many people pouring into the profession every year still.
Well that's what debating is! You have to back up your opinion.
If you just say "this is my opinion, you are wrong" then that is certainly worse than taking the time to substantiate it, because you're not even giving the person you are debating with the chance to respond to your reasoning.
It definitely comes across as more intolerant of opposing viewpoint. You may accuse me of that, but I almost always give a person's point of view the respect of addressing each point.
Well, unless it's Jiggy.

Oops, I'm sorry.
No, of course they don't. And cops don't routinely harass innocent people, and Jerry Jones is an excellent owner.
