JJT: Monte Kiffin experiment a failure

It's worse than Schmitty's idiotic logic that we should stick with Garrett unless it's guaranteed that we find a better option.

That's not entirely what I said, FWIW.

Just that I want a triple-A option lined up, not shots in the dark on Chan Gaileys, Mike Zimmers or Nick Sabans.

All I know is the status quo isn't working and the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Letting Jerry embark on another coaching search for the next Wade or Norv Turner would constitute doing the same thing over and over. Which is what I'm trying to avoid.

Nick Saban made one critical mistake at the QB position and bailed. I don't think he would be a shot in the dark if he would coach here (he wouldn't). Look at what a guy with a similar career in Pete Carroll (pro background, but not much HC succeess, huge college success) has done in Seattle. I wouldn't be surprised if Saban did just as well if he came back to the NFL.

You would consider Sean Payton a triple-A coach, right? Maybe Belichick or Coughlin? They all started as coordinators too. I've no problem getting one if he has the right makeup.

Yeah, those guys exist. I was all about Rex Ryan when he was a coordinator. I don't see a truly hot name out there right now on that level though. There's run of the mill hot names every year that turn into Chan Gaileys.

Not saying there isn't one, I just haven't been introduced to him as a candidate yet.

People tend to get hotter when they make a deep playoff run. It's still too early to see who will separate himself from the pack.

Ray Horton.

Darrell Bevell interests me. He's always been able to build a dominant run game and he developed Russell Wilson quick enough to make them an elite team.

:zzz

Like my candidate or your opinion isn't valid, got it.

Until you provide the names of coaches, your opinion is garbage. It's been apologize for Garrett and dismiss every suggestion a person makes. There are no double standards here, schmitty. No alternatives = no respect.

I'm not convinced anyone out there is better than Monte Kiffin. Kiffin prevented the Saints from dropping 80+ points on us. Not many, if any, triple-A options can say the same.

Thanks, Phil, or shall I start calling you "schmitty"? Are you also going to say that only under the tutelage of one Jason Garrett could we have been able to muster 17 points? Because, without him and his "process" we couldn't possibly have been able to score more?

If I'm looking for a guy who can run a 21st century offense that produces points I'm interested in Pete Carmichael Jr. He kept the offense rolling in New Orleans when Sean Payton was suspended. Since we will never have a running game or any semblance of balance on this team we might as well go all out and copy New Orleans. Sean Payton thought he could build his offense around Romo and tried to get him, he got a better QB in Brees, but that doesn't mean his offense won't work around Romo.

On the original subject of Monte Kiffin. I say we demote him to senior consultant, because I have the utmost respect for the man but maybe full time DC is too much for him. It was Marinelli's great defense in Chicago whose recent success we were trying to replicate. Make Marinelli the DC.
