Javonte Williams Resigned -- 3 Yrs 24 Million

We definitely need more breaks for Williams, but I thought Blue and Mafah showed enough to not give up on them after one rookie year.

I wouldn't want to go into the season with either as a starter but I'm ok with them as backups and maybe a Malik Davis type in the wings in case of emergency.

James Conner.

But I also wouldn't pass up a RB I really like in the draft. Blue and Mafah showed a few glimpses here and there but not enough for me to really bank on them for anything if a RB fell in my lap.

Excellent. He’s a quality player. Good to get this checked off the list.

As we are obviously a passing offense he is paid like a supporting player, this is still a good need to have crossed off the list before the draft, and he and Blue I can see being a quality tandem. Not elite but we aren’t an elite running team. Very good complimentary running attack though especially with this OL.

Good luck with that. Hell Malik Davis is better than both at this point.

If that turns out to be true then fair enough, but I think it's early to give up on Mafah or Blue after their rookie season. I don't see much reason those guys plus Leupke can't be backups when the starter is getting 70% of snaps. If we were in a different situation I might feel differently but this offseason and associated assets should be highly focused on defense.

According to Spotrac Conner isn't a FA.

Blue and Mafah is all about the small stuff. I have no concerns about them running the ball. It's the blitz pickups and Blue fumbling that are probably the main concerns. Williams is just so reliable as a complete RB. But they can both compliment Jevonte just fine.
And they should both have a lot better handle on the blitz pickup stuff and the playbook after getting through their rookie years.

And c'mon, boozer, Davis wasn't better than anyone his rookie year. It took him literally years to learn how to be a pro and get his head right.

Good redzone back when he was in his prime, but will he be worth the 5 mil (min) it will prolly take to sign him?

He might be toast. Coming off a major injury and was piss poor prior to that. And he's on the wrong side of 30. I think I'd just roll with what we have.

I certainly wouldn't pay him anything above league minimum and there's no way he'd command 5 million on the market.

Mafah's comp with Adams was Conner, just saying.

I doubt he'd be that much and I certainly wouldn't pay it, but for 1/3 I'd roll the dice that he can regain some form on maybe 10 touches a game in a system he's familiar with.

That's a dumb question. Not to defend Stephen but it's pretty obvious that they're using the threat of the tag to encourage him to take a deal that the team would be happy with. Once you actually apply the tag the incentive changes.

Are these reporters dumb? Seriously.

Yeah, I feel gross saying this, but I agree with Stephen...
