Home Improvement/DIY Projects

427 is my favorite engine GM has ever produced. That one looks sweet man.
I’ll update the thread as I get it completed. I’m using an all billet front accessory drive system too. Also using a FAST LXRT intake manifold. Should look pretty sweet.

1/2 the front drive pulley system is in.

:edit: Pictures aren’t showing up. Not sure why they won’t load. Bummer.

Yeah…pictures won’t upload. I even cut them down to 1mb. Not sure.
You were able to load pictures the other day. I have trouble getting pictures to load from my phone sometimes. Maybe that's it?

Yep. Loaded from my phone. Today it won’t do it. Weird.

I could post a pic, but you guys probably aren’t in to that sorta thing.

Oh, we're into it.

Show us that drywall, you filthy mud bucket.

As long as we're still talking about kitchen remodel pics.

Another question on my big, beautiful welder... got it working well now, but now the power switch is sticking. It turns on fine but doesn't want to turn off -- obviously not ideal to have to unplug the welder to turn it off. It was starting to do this before when I opened it up, and I thought I had it working better but it's acting up again.

It's an old all-metal switch, everything exposed. Any ideas for how to clean and lubricate it better? I would just replace it, but it's like 65 bucks and doesn't look particularly corroded or anything. Before I just used some contact cleaner and general lubricant. Any ideas?

I would unplug the machine and see if you can take the switch out and disassemble it. Most likely there are contacts in it of some kind that are probably corroded because of its age. I used to take the switches apart and lightly sand the contacts with 600 grit sandpaper to get rid of corroded areas and get the copper contacts back clean again.
Send a pic of the switch if you can. I probably have taken one like it apart.

Thanks a lot, man. I may see if I can just lubricate it or something before doing that, but I might have to take it out.

I guess one of my concerns was not using something kind of oily that could conduct, but maybe that's not really a concern if I'm careful to only get it on the little hinges. (Or maybe it's not really a concern at all.)

You can see what the switch looks like here, at the top left. The lighter yellowy-orange circle is the pivot point for the metal plates.

This stuff isn't cheap, but it's the best stuff I have found for what you want to do:
Wet Lubricant Film, Medium, Corrosion Inhibitor - 4DET1|90101 - Grainger

We use it for about everything here on the rig.

Forgive the clutter pictures of this kitchen. It’s ugly as fuck, but the poor guy was trying to empty everything out for us a week or so out of heart surgery.

I wasn’t able to get great before pics due to the clutter of the previously small kitchen. I had my back up against the wall just just get the shitty shot I have.

Should be finished with grouting and appliances tomorrow, so I’ll have some better pics. Don’t judge the color scheme, it’s not what I would have picked.

This is what Daddy does for a living.

I don't see much difference.

Seriously, nice. Did you do the countertops yourself?
