Hall of Fame - Drew Pearson

Speaking of old Cowboys memorabilia....does anyone else who lived in Texas during the 1980s remember when McDonald's used to give away Dallas Cowboys cards, schedules, team photos, etc. with their meals?

I have a cousin who has a ton of that stuff, including some Pearson cards from Happy Meals.
 
If anyone says Drew Pearson didn’t rack up enough 1000 yard seasons (2), then point to Paul Warfield, a 100 YR All-Time Team selection, who only had one.

Not to forget there were only 14 games back then, too.

Out of all the non-specialist players, there were only 5 players not in the Hall. Drew Pearson was one......the other four are LC Greenwood, Harvey Martin, Louis Wright, & Dick Anderson.

Pearson was also the last offensive player on the 1970s All-Decade team to make it into the Hall.

Pearson was First Team too. How in the hell do you vote in all the Second Teamers, especially WRs, before you put in a First Team player?

Warfield is a first ballot HOFer too.

I tell ya, it made no sense whatsoever to make Drew Pearson wait as long as he did. His production was right in line with all the other great WRs of that era who got in a long time ago.

to piggyback your list of 70s Decade non-HOFers, Pearson had been the only 1st teamer.

Yeah, that means both the 2nd team WRs got in before Pearson.

Didn't they give away glasses too or was that someone else?

Yep, I mentioned this right above the post that you just quoted.

I can only assume Pearson didn't get along with the media back in the day.

They probably did. I remember they always had a ton of Cowboys giveaways or extra things you could purchase for a few bucks every summer leading into football season.

My cousin worked at McDonald's so of course he was bringing home all of that stuff.

Oh, I think you might be right. But, I do remember A&W doing something. Maybe they just sold A&W glasses with NFL logos on them?

I remember Burger King used to give out Phillies cards way back in the day. It was the only time I wanted to go to Burger King.
