I wish we kept Murray, but not at the money he got.

We did the right thing then. The key now is to do the right thing in replacing him.

It probably was what Rosenhaus wanted and it protected the team. Seems pretty fair and smart to me.

I will be surprised if Dallas goes after a high draft choice RB.
 
Gurley only concerns me due to his ACL. Also the fact Georgia's backup was extremely effective filling in while he was out.

Deal is Gordon/Gurley are the only 2 first round quality RB's. If we wait til round 2 for our #3 prospect we risk him being gone before we pick. It is a deep draft so there should be plenty still around late in round 2, but if we want to ensure we get the one we really like we may not be able to do that by waiting til round 2. Or is we do go DL/CB/etc in round 1 we may panic and move up in the 2nd if we want to make sure we land our #3 back.

At the very least I can see us going defense in the first and see who comes to us in the 2nd. Hopefully one of our top targets at RB is still on the board, if not go BPA and then move up in the 3rd. As big as our need is at RB, even though it's a deep draft, i don't think we can just wait til the end of round 3 and hope for the best.

The Cowboys made a splash Wednesday, signing troubled defensive end Greg Hardy to a one-year contract.

One of Hardy's former Panthers teammates, tight end Ben Hartsock, spoke with Dallas radio station KESN-FM before Hardy’s signing to discuss the ex-Carolina star.

"Greg Hardy is an interesting character,” Hartsock said. "His notoriety as of late hasn't been in a positive light, but before the whole domestic violence thing came down on him, he was more of just kind of viewed as kind of a cartoon figure in our locker room. He was kind of a harmless beast kind of thing, in the sense that everything was just kind of benign goofiness. But Greg can play football."

Hartsock added that Hardy’s obsession with his alter ego, "The Kraken," has caused him to "lose touch" with who he really is.

"The Greg Hardy that was on the field was going to be a nightmare for the opposing team," Hartsock said. "But then you go in and everybody is in the hot tub or the cold tub after practice just shooting the breeze and the guy carries on a very reasonable, level-headed inquisitive type of conversation. But then there are other times when he's just unmanageable. There are times where he would just . . . (be) frustrated with something that had happened. There were a couple of times where he was late for some meetings and things and guys would try to pull him to the side and talk some sense into him and you could just see that there was a bull-headedness to it."

Despite Hardy’s issues, antics and alter ego, Hartsock believes his upside is worth the risk for the Cowboys.

"You don't find guys who are 6-4 and can run 4.6 and 300 pounds. Those guys don't grow on trees," Hartsock said. "He's going to be on a very, very short leash. If he screws up one more time, I believe he'll be on his way out. But I do believe he's going to get another chance and I think he deserves it."

Hardy missed all but one game last season after the Panthers placed him on the commissioner's exempt list while he faced domestic violence charges. The team still paid Hardy his full $13.1 million salary. The charges were dropped on Feb. 9 after his accuser failed to cooperate with the district attorney’s office and reached a financial settlement with Hardy.

Hardy is seeking immediate reinstatement by the league, but could still face a suspension under the NFL's personal conduct policy.
 
As I said before. It appears to me that the reliance with the organization is with the OL. Like so many on this site they seem to be currently displaying a plug and play mentality at the RB position. At this juncture, Randal is the best prospect backed up by McFadden, Dunbar and possibly Williams. If they are going after a high pick what was the McFadden move all about, Some say depth but depth to Randal or a rookie?

A chance at a very cheap reclamation project. If it works we easily dump a lower RB. But I can't see no way in Hades they think they are set at RB and don't draft a guy early.
 
Depth to a rook. McFadden is too serious a downgrade to be seen as the principle here. I seriously wonder if he's still on the roster come opening day.

I think the organization is preparing to move on from Randall and Dunbar as well. With McFadden in the fold, there's no reason for Dunbar to see the field. Randall is just an average back who also is one screwup from being cut.

I see them getting an rookie to split the majority with McFadden and Randle as the third guy.
 
So now it's official. It's a mystery about RB strategy evidenced by the myriad of opinions. I am just as much in a quandary because it is obvious it needs addressing it's just that the moves thus far have strange implications. carry on.
