Greg Hardy signed...

I know this isn't really supposed to be a family friendly board, but when I first started on the board I remember a bit more of a restriction on language and other things. Are we to the point where we as adults can't express ourselves without the use of extreme vulgarity. I may have been guilty of it as well at some point, but it seems it's happening a lot more now than it used to here. Not to be the prude that steps on a parade, it was just an observation. :buddy

Are you being serious?

True question because this board has never had any restrictions besides posting porn or being flat out racist.

At least to Mexicans.:unsure

The F word used to be censored. It showed as ****. But it was decided a while back to not censor it anymore. For the adult reason forts stated, but on the flipside. The fact that we are all adults and can handle reading such language.

We definitely had more restriction before as far as language goes. That was way back in the day. Since the social liberal owner left there has been less restrictions. Go figure...

Never noticed that I seem to remember this being one of the few sites that never did that.

And yeah keep it like it is.

It's been the same, you're just getting older...

I wouldn't attempt to censor anyone but for myself i will limit my dialogue to an occasional Damn under extreme circumstances. I like to feel i can make a point without using a lot of "adult " language. Actually that term is an oxymoron in my view because adults should use a higher level of diologue for the most part. :shrug

I don't swear constantly because I like the fact that people notice when I do. If I said "fuck" after every other word people would tune it out.

Oh, FFS. It wasn't Sham trying to protect Garrett. It was Sham stating in a professional way, that Hanson was wrong in the way he went about disagreeing with the signing.

Hostile isn't over here, you don't have to keep up the good fight.

Speaking of FFS, Hostile has nothing to do with my dislike of Garrett. Not sure what he has to do with anything.

And Sham has been one of the main defenders of Garrett for years. This was just one more small example.

Because the truth is Hansen was exactly right on Garrett. Either his RKG stuff is hot air, or he doesn't have the authority he's claimed he's had.

Bullshit.

Garrett never said that the "right kind of guy" is a boyscout. When Garrett talks about having the right kind of guys he is talking about what the player brings to the team, not what the players brings to his girlfriend late at night. I dislike Garrett as much as anyone at times but in no way is he being hypocritical with the Hardy signing. Hell, I think it's a little offensive that everyone is presuming an innocent man to be guilty.

I love watching the debates over what RKG means, as if anyone really fucking knows.

Why does everyone always default back to the "boyscout" line? No shit these guys aren't all boy scouts.

If character off the field means absolutely nothing, why did Garrett say a couple of days ago that they thought he could become the right kind of guy? That obviously implies he hasn't been one in the past.

And the Hardy concerns go back more than just the incident with the girl. Or do you really think he's a perfectly innocent great guy who just randomly had a bad label hung on him?

People should just drop the charade and admit that we did this because he's a very talented player. Jerry actually did that recently -- he's one of the few.

What I'm saying is I don't care if he is a great guy. I don't believe for a second that Garrett cares either. I care about what type of a teammate he is and what he can bring to the football field. People make the boyscout comment because other people naively believe that you can't be in legal trouble and still be "RKG."

You know why Hardy is the right kind of guy for the Cowboys? He can get you 15 sacks in a season and he brings an anger and intensity level to the football field that is unmatched by any current defensive player we have. Garrett's job is to win football games, not to win community outreach awards.

Of course he's a very talented player. Why else would we want to sign him? Because he's good at cribbage?

I don't disagree with any of that. What I'm saying is, drop the charade about character and being a good guy and all the RKG crap and just admit the truth that you, like every other team, want talented football players.

I don't think Garrett has ever said he is looking for players who are good guys. People just make that assumption when he uses the term right kind of guy. Right kind of guy doesn't imply a person of high moral character in any way what so ever.

I always thought RKG was just a buzzword/phrase. Like synergy, process, sustainability, moving forward, at the end of the day, empowerment...et al.
It's an easy thing for him to say that reinforces his "process" and it means absolutely nothing.

I just love the off season. Nothing like substantive debate among football scholars.

I agree. I mean, we already had Randle, Brent and McClain. It shouldn't have taken the Hardy signing for people to realize that RKG is a mythical buzzword.

Does it mean choir boy? Nope, see Randle. Does it mean committed to football? Nope, see McClain. Does it mean team player? Nope, see Claiborne. Does it mean reliable? Nope, see Hardy (I'm referring to Hardy reportedly being late to and missing meetings in Carolina).

It simply doesn't mean anything.
