George: Cole Beasley starts over catchless Miles Austin... more

Austin can stay on the sideline playing angry birds.

That's the only game he can play and not get hurt.

Let Beasley catch a fricking pass longer than 20 yards before we write off Austin completely this season. Beasley started because Austin has been injured and missed practice.

Beasley's niche of converting key first downs is growing on me, but he will never stretch the field or compete with elite defenders.

Maybe not but you know what Miles Austin won't compete for? The ball when it's in the air. I would hate throwing to him down the field if I were Romo because Austin does not fight for the ball when it's in the air and that lack of effort/awareness has resulted in some INTs in the past. He does a few things pretty well but he's always hurt and is becoming more irrelevant to the Cowboys by the week. I think he can and will still help them this season but his production is lagging waaaaay behind his cap figure.

Beasley's doing what he's supposed to do. He doesn't need to run routes 20 yards down field. That is Dez and now Williams' job.

That's what Williams is for.

I am a huge fan of little guys running routes underneath. Having said that, Beasley just looks frail. He's not just small but he's weak looking. Hopefully he's as good as Welker at avoiding direct hits.

When you are only 5'8" I think it does really help you avoid hits. He is a very small target and I think that actually helps him in terms of the abuse he takes during games. It's the same reason I don't like tall RBs as much.

For a change the cowboys are actually using a player correctly. He isn't taking anything but snaps away or he should be. Like others said Williams is doing the longer routes.

Austin's strength was running after the catch. He was pretty amazing at that before EXPLODING HAMMIES!!!

I agree. That is why I never understood why folks considered a 5'9" RB short.

At this juncture neither will Austin. it is hard to catch passes when you are not on the field. He has been playing Ouch almighty for at least two years now,

Sounds like sour grapes because he got waived.
