Geno Smith out 6-10 weeks after getting punched in locker room

A source who spoke with Geno Smith told me the Jets quarterback says he approached IK Enemkpali around the start of camp prior to the big incident that occurred Tuesday. The source said Smith did this after sensing a lingering issue between them after he was unable to attend Enemkpali's offseason event, as it felt like the now former Jets linebacker was not speaking to him. The source emphasized, Smith tried to diffuse the situation at that time by offering to pay $600 to Enemkpali that Smith said his former teammate claimed was owed for both a plane ticket and car service.”

Well, he's supposed to be a team leader. This is some wretched undrafted free agent. He could have made it right from the way it sounds.

But Smith is an odd cat anyways. I seem to recall his mamma only brought him one suit or change of clothes to the draft or something.

Ryan Fitzpatrick backed up by one of these guys? Speaks to how bad the QB situation is in this league.

I guess Bryce Petty isn't even close to being able to play.

I was reading an article today after news of this broke and there was a blurb in there that mentioned that Petty has been struggling mightily.

Not impressed with him all that much anyways. Briles' system wins college games but it does not prepare a player to go to the pros.
 
Geno, Geno, Geno... if you are going to put your finger in somebody's face, make sure it's not someone who out wieghs you by 50 pounds AND has a history of violence, m'k?

Everyone and their sister knew it would take Petty time to adjust to an NFL style offense. The fact that he isn't ready to play in the NFL after a week or two of training camp shouldn't surprise anyone. He is a QB with some raw arm talent and athletic ability but college football did little to prepare him for the NFL. Petty is the type of guy who would benefit from sitting for a couple of years while a team works hard to develop him. Unfortunately for him he went to a Jets team that is desperate for a QB now.
