Gameday Chatter Thread | Bengals v. Cowboys | - 8/24/13

I liked that Austin did his old school pivot and turn it upfield deal.

Geno Smith with another bad mistake. He ran out of the back of the endzone. Dan Orlovsky style.

The line is bad, but they have scored 14 points.

Sure, but it's not like you can just call the same plays and get 14 points a half. Without the legit threat of the run, the pass cannot sustain a team all season past about where we've gotten to.

The Bengals are in the backfield before the back gets the ball half the time. It doesn't happen like that every week, but far too many weeks for the offense to be consistently deadly, especially against the better teams.

He puts himself in such bad spots to throw...running backwards all the time instead of stepping up.

I doubt we see much of the starters in the 2nd half, so I guess we can pretty much say the preseason is over for our team.

Positive signs:

Dez Bryant

Defense causing turnovers

Negatives:

O-line (although, they were a pleasant surprise before all of the shuffling began, but I still wouldn't expect a significant improvement from what we've seen the last few seasons)

Sloppiness - still too many penalties

Free and Parnell are not going to be where they are currently though...it will be better with Leary.

So Chris Jones hit the scoreboard, eh? And the re-kick resulted in a punt return TD?

Interesting.

Cowboys run blocking is absolutely awful. Pass blocking is ok but not near good enough. These are not our best five.

I agree, and hopefully it will be better than last year overall, but it still needs work. More than token attention next offseason.

Bengals are getting nice runs.

To be expected.

This 2nd unit isn't putting up any resistance.

I think the worst instance of this that I've seen against this awful line was the Tampa Bay game last year.

Murray got hit 13 times behind the line last year.....thirteen! Romo got sacked like 5 times and got hit a whole bunch more. That makes operating an offense impossible.

Absolutely it needs big mess, but we coukd be OK, not great.

I know it's the 2nd team defense, but they didn't put up any kind of resistance there.

Sheesh.

I thought AJ Green was inbounds on that corner fade route. Looked to me like he got his toes down on that back foot before being forced out of bounds.
