Money is the biggest factor I think. But they do look at Pro Bowls/All Pro nods and also playing time.

Overall, it is secretive how exactly they figure it out. I bet there is a way we get screwed.

I guess Dallas figures it is dumb to try to sign a good veteran like Freeney to plug a hole for a year.

There is also a chance the Colts let Mathis go since they got Cole. I'd take the pair of them but we are too veteran adverse to bother.

We are entertaining the idea of signing Spencer. I don't see the difference.

The general point is we have real issues plugging in veterans. Nobody is saying insert "progess stoppers".

But sorry, even old ass Freeney is better than anybody we have right now.

Please. You like to bitch about Mincey, but think Freeney would be a good veteran to sign? He had a way better season than Freeney did.

And I'm not talking about not signing a progress stopper. I'm talking about not wasting money on a player that is D.O.N.E.

Hey, call me desperate but that is how I would be behaving if I ran the damn team. I'd sign as many "done" vets as I could to try to address the pass rush problem. The Patriots annually have a parade of older guys coming in. Some work out, some don't.
 


Yeah, this strategy of playing a waiting game with the DL in this period is really paying off.
 
Don't care for over the hill Freeney. But Sheard is one of the younger 2nd tier FA's I liked.
