Florio: ESPN confirms existence of Seattle locker-room divide, in unusual way

I don't see anything wrong with Wilson. If anything, I'd prefer to see more professional athletes acting like him, rather than a self-absorbed douche nozzle.

Wilson seems like a righteous broth....um...individual....

Exactly.

I can't believe a guy is getting bashed by some just because he says "Go Seahawks", is in national commercials, dresses like a professional, speaks proper English, makes weekly visits to hospitals to visit sick children, involved in charities, etc.

Yep, the guy's a Grade A douche.

:lol

To me it appears that he's trying to model himself after Peyton Manning. Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

The guy irritates me, big whoop. I'm not saying he isn't a good person, or a model citizen, but I definitely get the overtly well natured, phony vibe from him. If that pisses you off, whatever. It's not surprising to me that some of his teammates feel the same way.

Tebow came off as preachy though.

I don't see that with Wilson.

Plus with Tebow it was the constant media over-coverage that rubbed people the wrong way.

ESPN went overboard with Tebowmania. Remember they even created a special page on ESPN.com that was dedicated to all things Tebow?

Wilson is not over-covered like that. Hell I don't even see him on a ton of commercials. I've seen maybe two national commercials featuring Russell Wilson. I'm sure he probably has some local commercials that I'm unaware of but he's certainly not being shoved down our throats on a national level like Tebow was.

Dude, calm the fuck down. It doesn't "piss me off".

I just find it funny that people like you are irritated by a guy who's done nothing but positive things with his life and who's a positive role model.

Man, people not liking Wilson hurts people.

I'm just not sure what people would prefer him do? If saying all the right things makes you fake? What would make him more "real" for people. If he acted like a fool on TV? Is there anything more real then this

Uhh, I am calm dude. You're the one jumping on people just because they're not as enamored with Wilson as the rest of the country seems to be. And you also act as if his personal successes are what irritate me. I'm sorry, but he does come off as a very rehearsed individual. That's just my opinion. And some of his teammates' opinions.

Not sure why Wilson not getting universal love upsets you two so much.

I think this whole story is blown out of proportion. There are probably a very small number of teammates who have issues with Wilson. I'm guessing that number is less than 5. But the squeaky wheel always gets the oil so if 3 people have an issue with Wilson not being "black enough" that story easily morphs into a "split locker room". Happens all the time in the media.

And oh BTW, one of the guys who reportedly had issues with Wilson is notorious bad teammate/bad person Percy Harvin. So excuse me for not quickly buying into the notion that Wilson is widely viewed as unlikable and not black enough within the Seattle locker room. Especially if the basis of that opinion stems from Harvin and his associates.

Are there probably some members of the team who dislike him? Absolutely. That wouldn't shock me at all because you're never going to please everyone.

But as I mentioned I think the story is a bit overblown because I think the media ran with a story which centered on the actions/opinions of thug Harvin and his close associates.

Obviously I have no proof of this being the case in Seattle but similar scenarios have played out before in the sports world.

I never said I was upset. I just lol'd at the two of you for loathing the guy.

I'm not up here campaigning for you guys to like him. I pointed out some of the positive things that he's done then lol'd that someone would consider the guy a douche despite having nothing of substance to support the dislike.

But I get it. It's your opinion and Wilson is not for everyone. Just like Tebow is not for everyone.

:lol

We have turned into a tabloid society. We take one rumor and completely polarize an individual to the point that it becomes truth. Total trash and junk most of the time. I can't believe we have adult men that eat this stuff up.

Yeah, I don't either. He seems like a team player who just want to win. Not sure where the perceived hate is coming from.

No doubt.

There's a big difference between not getting universal love and replying to him being called a fake robot. I don't see it.

His teammates include a documented asshole. So, there's that...
