Farmer Wants a Wife Thread...

Worst business model ever. If I was Caitlyn, I'd tell them all to fuck off and go play in Europe.

This is what happens when a business model isn't based on profits in any capacity. They don't care that Clark is the golden goose to more revenue. The revenue doesn't matter because they know they aren't going to make money. They don't have to make money to survive. So instead they can do ass backwards shit like this because behind the curtain the league has other motivating factors. None of which is about becoming financially viable as a business.

The WNBA has never turned an overall profit in its history (since 1997), and exact per-season league-wide net loss figures are not publicly disclosed in detail. The league (and many individual teams) operates at a loss, subsidized by NBA owners.

Key Financial Context

  • Historical average: NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stated in 2018 that the WNBA lost over $10 million per year on average since founding. Cumulative losses through ~29 years have been estimated in the hundreds of millions to over $1 billion (depending on inclusion of team-level vs. league-level accounting).
  • Recent years: Losses have grown with investment and expansion. Reports indicate ~$40–50 million lost in 2024 (an improvement from earlier $50M projections that year), driven by higher spending amid the boom in popularity.
  • Revenue growth: Revenue has risen sharply (e.g., ~$200M in 2023, with projections of $350M+ in coming years from new media deals worth ~$200M annually starting 2026), but expenses (player salaries, marketing, travel, facilities, expansion) have outpaced it.

$1 billion to watch these hoes throw up air balls 50 times a game and shoot 18% from the field.

Dude needs to take a page from Jerry. Any attention is good attention. You could argue I guess that she is a distraction for her team, but for the league? Would we even be talking about their league if it wasn't for Clark. Hell I know a lot of people who only go to or watch the games because of Clark. You take her out of the equation and those revenues drop big time. Distraction? Like what the hell is he talking about.

In what world would anybody claim a sports league is better off without their most popular player?

He's trying to make it sound like they have an abundance of talented players who weren't getting noticed and it took a white girl to come along and get everyone's attention to notice all the talented players in their league and now they don't need her.

I wonder what would have happened if Clark was black.

Pretty sure that's exactly why Acho is making such an asinine comment.

I'll take things that never happened for 400, Alex.

I dont know about that. People are stupid on both sides of the aisle so to speak. I can easily see where that could have happened. Hate is easily spewed.
