Election Chatter Thread...

This is not unreasonable.

But then again, it goes against every principle we have for our freedom.

On one hand, people want freedom. Then they don't.

That's fine, let's have everyone be required to have a universal ID that you need to do, well anything.

Well, yeah. That's not infringing on anyone, commie.

I had to present an ID the other day to get a refund credit at Lowes.

But to vote? Nah. That's racist, or something.

That is a company policy. You have the right to refuse to shop there anymore.

Not quite the same.

That's my thing. You ask for that for the right to vote, might as well just infringe on all the freedoms.

And it would lead to a universal ID card in the long run.

You don't have to vote, either.

The point is, do you think Lowes could get away with that if it were truly racist and discriminatory?

You know they couldn't.

Oh ffs you can't function in society today without an id. And it's bullshit that anyone can't get an id, I didn't see anyone bringing up ids when we were mailing out stimulus checks which you have to have an id to cash.

All I am saying is that you require that to vote, it leads to a universal ID. Just a progression.

I don't even understand that argument. "Universal?" Like to do what?

In Texas I've always had to produce an ID to vote and that didn't lead to producing an ID to buy groceries.

Actually a really good argument considering they are both god given rights and all..
In a way you could consider having to have an id and background check to buy a firearm a type of poll tax

How would a photo ID work with a mail in vote anyway?
You already have to have a id for absentee ballot, you use it to request one then your sig is matched on the sent in ballot. Universal ballots that arent sig matched aren't allowed in quite a few states still. They should be outlawed in all 50

I thought the headline said he wanted a photo ID, I'm trying to figure out how that would work? Take a picture of your ID or Drivers license, print it out and include in whatever you mail doesnt really seem practical or necessarily secure
