Roughly nine days after having surgery to repair a bone in his right foot, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant's recovery process seems to be moving along steadily.
Bryant was seen in the Cowboys locker room Wednesday afternoon at the conclusion of the team's midweek practice. According to WFAA's Mike Leslie, Bryant was walking around completely barefoot without a cast, walking boot, or any type of wrap. Bryant wasn't doing anything the doctors haven't told him not to do and the receiver appeared to be comfortable applying pressure on his surgically repaired foot, per Leslie.
I'm not surprised at all. The guy has been a quick healer in the past. The reports of 10-12 weeks for him obviously were totally not accurate. If they were he would be sitting on IR instead of Romo.
And I'm sure that was part of the team's thinking when they decided not to use the IRDTR spot for him. They figured he would be ready to go before the 8 week was up.
I don't get applying that designation to Romo though. If all goes well he can practice by first week of November, then you have to wait 2 more weeks to let him play. That just sucks, and why to bring up that PS QB?
I didn't like the designation for Romo either. Collar bone injuries are supposedly extremely difficult to predict a timeline on. So if you're predicting 8 weeks. What if he heals quickly and is ready in 6? I get that we need the extra roster spot for a backup QB, but now we are carrying 2 backup QBs. Wouldn't it have been more prudent to just keep Romo on the roster?
Obviously the Cowboys don't think he will have any chance of being ready in 6 weeks. So I'll just have to trust the medical reports on that. I'm sure the Cowboys will never admit it if Romo is healthy enough to play at that point.
That and a needed spot on the roster.
Sort of. I mean I don't know how badly we really need to carry Kellen Moore on the roster. I get that if Weeden gets hurt this week Moore gives us a better shot then Cassel but we are basically using that roster spot for Moore for this week and then we will probably dump him.
Hell even once Romo gets back, are we really going to keep Cassel as our third?

Garrett clearly wanted Cassel, so they went and got him. He talked to Turner about him and must have heard what he wanted to hear. To worry about how the roster will look 8-9 weeks from now is super dramatic.
I wasn't being dramatic about Cassel in that post. I was talking about how unnecissary it is to carry 3 QBs right now. Because we probably won't when Romo comes back either. I just think you might as well have kept Romo off IR and carried his as the third QB.
Clearly the coach wanted a QB...so the front office got him his pick. They can worry about how to fit all 3 on the roster 8 weeks from now.
Romo as the 3rd QB? You realize he is injured, right?
Jesus you're really not following me. We were talking about the fact that the Cowboys put Romo on IR. My point was, that I would have preferred us to use the roster spot on Romo instead of putting him on IR and guaranteeing he can't be back for 8 weeks. Because clearly our coaches are comfortable going with only 2 QBs on the roster. So the roster spot we are using on Moore could have been used to keep Romo off of IR.
My thought is, what if Romo is ready in 6 weeks? Or even 7? Wouldn't an extra game or two have been worth it for Romo? Obviously there is no guarantee of him being back that quickly but other QBs have managed that with the same injury.
Romo isn't going to be ready in six weeks, or seven.
They had a choice to make. Which guy, Romo or Bryant to the IR to return.
I realize how important Romo is, but his injury is a bit more hard and fast. A collarbone is a little different in pain management than a foot injury.
