That is part of my issue with him. Johnson perfected that scheme years ago and McDermott has not tweaked it a lot over time.

Back then. spread concepts, quicker releases, mobile QBs, and RPO/heavy play-action were a rarity. The boom or bust zone blitzing gives up chunk plays if not successful and the run defense has been horrid. Part of that is built into the design.

I assume Flores and Schwartz are not realistic but obviously they'd be at the top of the list if they somehow shake loose.

I have no real interest in Jones, the guy has no track record of success beyond the few years he's shared with Flores.

Out of the realistic (of which Morris and Harris are not as well) choices, Jones concerns me the most. They seem to be charmed by his "communication" skills...whatever the hell that means.
 
One positive out of this is that the Jones boys probably hadn't even heard the candidates' names when this process started, much less having an opinion on any of them. Hopefully this means that Schottenheimer is driving the process with "input" from Jerry and Stephen. It may not work out, but at least they seem to be going about the process in a normal way.

They interviewed way more guys than usual. Didn't interview Flores or Schwartz, but maybe were rebuffed. Who knows?

Will they wait for Leonhard or pull the trigger on one of these other 3 guys later this week? Be dumb not to wait and see what's up. Nobody banging the door down for the 3.

Even if Denver wins Leonhard is eligible to interview in person starting next Monday.

If we haven't hired someone by about Thursday or Friday I think it means Leonhard, but I'd be just as happy with Parker.

Very true... except for Gannon.
 
Wonder how many years we would have Leonhard as DC if he does what we want him to do? 1 or 2 years and then back looking again?

I think there's a lot of truth to that, and it reminds me of them hiring Adams and Riley last year. Seems to be a Schottenheimer led search.
 
Two things that I'd keep an eye on over the next few days:

-What Arizona does at HC, I think they're the only team who might hire Joseph since he was their DC prior to going to Denver. If they go elsewhere I think it's highly likely that Joseph stays in Denver and Leonhard will leave to be a DC. If they don't hire a HC by the weekend you have to assume Joseph is strongly in play there.
-What the Packers and Giants do at DC, Leonhard is obviously a candidate in New York (I'd bet on Weaver though) and I think Parker will be a candidate in Green Bay.
