Nah, it will get down into the upper 70s/low 80s tonight. We don't stay super hot at night here. That's Phoenix.

Got up to 109 here today, but the record is 112 from two years ago. It’s only gonna get down to 82 tonight.
 
Refrigerant is getting so expensive that home warranty companies will pay to have the system fixed but not refilled... learned that shit the hard way.

Yes it is. It's currently $125 a pound. My neighbor had to have them charge his system. Cost him $500. :picard Luckily, when they supposedly charged mine they didn't charge me for the freon to charge it. They only charged me the $325 service fee. I'm starting to doubt they put any freon in it at all.
 
Guy just left. Turns out it is the TXV valve. It's an expansion valve that controls the flow of freon. Not great news as it is going to be about $2000 to fix it. He is going to get me a comparison of what a new coil unit would cost so I can decide if I just want to go new and get the warranty. Sucks ass, but it is what it is, I suppose.
 
I may wait to see what it does. It took 3 weeks to for it to freeze with those vents closed. I may see wait to see how long it takes to freeze again.
 
I should have been watching this a little closer because I knew we were getting close, but in the last month to 6 weeks we passed 1 million posts as a board. That's a big fucking deal. Congrats, gentlemen. We may be a dying breed, but we ain't dead yet.

EDIT: I should have given the number. We are currently at 1.07 million posts.

Sounds like a very cheap part that costs a lot of labor to replace. Wonder if it's worth a second opinion but yeah sucks if that's what it is.

I have looked it up. The part is between $100-$200. Problem with mine is it is crammed up against where the roof hits an exterior wall, so they are going to basically have to but the copper pipe, remove the unit, flip the coil casing, replace the valve, and then put everything back together. If we can make it through the summer, I will get multiple opinions. Once he left, I did some research. Even with 4 labor hours it should not be more than about $800-$900. So, yeah, I will be shopping around.
