DCC Appreciation Thread...

Speaking of pizza, I had Pizza Hut the other night and it was highly disappointing. Sad.

They have fallen off badly in the last couple of decades. If I order from any of the big 3, I usually go with Domino's.

We eat Domino's as well. Mainly because my wife has to eat gluten free (allergy reason) and she says thats the one that tastes the best.

They have some good deals. They ran an unlimited toppings special not too long ago and we abused that one.

I ordered their $7.99 one-topping special last week and was disappointed. Their "large" is basically what we would have considered medium 10 years ago.

They are 14 inches. That's the standard size of a large.

You'll find that most "ethnic" food here in America is nowhere near what you will get in it's originating country. Italian food, starting with the pasta here and going forward, is no comparison to what I had in several port visits there, (including Naples). I'm sure they would by highly disappointed in our version of their dishes. Biggest difference was Chinese food, although it was in Hong Kong, which is not "pure" Chinese, it was much different that here, and I think I had chicken chow mein and Gen Tso's chicken if I remember correctly, (damn that was in 2003!). Korean food too. I think the closest comparison was Greek food, namely the gyro.

Another fun fact, I went to a Chinese restaurant in Italy and it was fucking amazing.

My favorite was always Papa Johns, their pizza used to be really thick, heavy on the cheese and sauce. The sauce used to be quite sweet though still a marinara sauce. The cheese used to be like this real heavy layer that could peel off the sauce, practically, and the toppings like pepperoni would be UNDER the cheese. It was unique, and great.

Now it's basically the same as Dominoes.

I always found their sauce to be too sweet. But their dipping sauce was always amazing.

Preach on it, brother.
