DCC Appreciation Thread...

Oh, nice. You were in PA, but not Philly . Maybe an Amish community?

Nah, not Amish country either. I always lived in the Philly suburbs until now. Now I'm in Delaware which is still pretty close.

One of my cousins got married in Amish country last year and I had to drive down there. Getting caught on a small road behind an Amish guy in a horse and buggy with shit all over the road is pretty wild.

Ive never known a person that admitted that they lived in Deleware. I always thought the population numbers were made up.

The taxes are way better than PA. It's otherwise not really particularly different.

I spent some time in the yard there on my ship about that time. We had three, if I remember correctly sailors get mugged coming back to the yard through the park. Classy place.
Yep... Roosevelt Park. Some Sailor from my ship (the Independence) got shot there IIRC just before I got there in October of 86. Our CO put the place off limits.

Ours did too. Once those guys all got beat up and robbed, we weren't allowed there either. I was on the Coontz DDG-40.

Did you go to any of the Cowboys games at the Vet? I went there for 86 and 87 games.
No. We weren't really there that long, and I was pretty low in rank at the time, I didn't have shit for money. lol I could barely scrape enough money to get a calzone from the roach coach on the pier.

I hear you. We stayed in Bldg 104 right across from the NEXIII. When you're only making $125 every two weeks you can only afford 1 cheesesteak a pay period from that place. However we were able to swing some $25 tickets from the USO both those years. I also got one for the game in 88 but I left for Saratoga a month before the game

Any brawls at the game? Maybe that’s just a modern problem.

Not in the stadium that I remember... However walking back to the base through the JFK Stadium parking lot in 86, we had beer bottles thrown at us. Maybe it had to do with Septien kicking the game-winner with a few seconds left, maybe not.

The 87 game was the first game after the strike. Had good seats down in the endzone but some fucker looking like he just walked out of a cabin in the Poconos sat behind me and my now-wife throwing green carnations at us every so often.
